Bobby
Santos III and No. 4 Mystic Missile Racing team hope to extend
their NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour (NWMT) point lead at Stafford
Motor Speedway (SMS) en route to Santos' first NWMT championship.
The Heinke-Baldwin Racing (HBR) development driver will compete in
the CARQUEST Fall Final for his fourth start at SMS this
season.
STAFFORD
MOTOR SPEEDWAY - Santos,
running his first full season in the NWMT, has made eight starts at
the Conn., track. He collected one win, one pole, two top-five and
three top-10 finishes. He led 88 laps and finished in the top-15 in
every race he completed.
THIS
SEASON AT STAFFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY -
In 2010, Santos earned a pole in the first race and finished
second. He followed that up with another pole in the second race at
SMS and secured his second win of the season. The Mass., native
returned to the half-mile racetrack for a third time. This time,
however, he did not have the same results. Santos started
14th and worked his way into the top-10 by halfway.
Unfortunately, the No. 4 Dodge's motor blew 100 laps into the
150-lap race. Santos finished 23rd, 50 laps
down.
BIRTHDAY
BOY- Santos
will celebrate his 25th birthday when he heads to the
track Sunday for the CARQUEST Fall Final, and he would not have it
any other way. "It seems that all of the end-of-the-year races end
up on my birthday. I better win and get myself a birthday
present!"
LAST
RACE RECAP: NEW HAMPSHIRE MOTOR SPEEDWAY - Santos
started fourth for the F.W. Webb 100. He showed success early as he
quickly worked his No. 4 Mystic Missile Dodge to the front of the
field. He competed in the top-10 all day and spent most of his time
in the top-five. An incident while battling Ryan Preece for
fifth-place sent Santos into the turn three wall and caused major
damage. He finished 19th.
HOLDING
ON TO THE LEAD - Trouble
for both Santos and Ted Christopher at New Hampshire Motor Speedway
shook up the point standings. Santos held onto the lead as Mike
Stefanik took over the second-place spot from Christopher. Santos
sits just seven points ahead of Stefanik and 70 points ahead of
Christopher with
two races to go.
Bobby
Santos III Quotes:
ON RACING AT STAFFORD MOTOR SPEEDWAY -
"I
am very confident for Stafford. I enjoy racing there. I am excited
about the cooler conditions. It is similar to the conditions we had
in the spring. I think that will play into our favor. The car will
be similar to what it was in the spring, so there isn't a reason we
can't run the way we did in the spring. We still have a shot at the
championship with two races to go. I am excited about that as
well."
