Bobcat E-Envelope

January 12, 2023

Hi SPS Families,

I hope everyone is getting settled back into their school routines after Christmas break!

Please be sure to check your student’s backpack today for 2023-24 Re-Registration information and Tax Letters for 2022.

We ask that you return the Re-Registration form and $100 family commitment fee to the school office on or before Sunday, January 29th to secure your enrollment. You may also complete the information and make payment online at our website. SPS will open enrollment up to new families on the 29th at our Catholic Schools Week Open House and we want to give you the opportunity to secure your seat(s). New this year, we will be offering a $500 Tuition Credit Raffle towards 2023-24 tuition to all returning families who complete enrollment by February 28th!

As we enter the second half of the school year, we are in need of Lunch Supervisors to help cover the classrooms for our teachers to be able to have a lunch break in the staff lounge.  Virtus training is mandatory for all volunteers.  You can choose to be paid for your time or apply towards the 20 volunteer hours required for all families.  Please visit Sign Up Genius to volunteer. As always, your support is greatly appreciated!

As always, if you need anything, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

The celebration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Day on Monday, January 16th (celebrated to honor his Jan. 15th birthday) provides an opportunity for all the parishes of the Archdiocese of Chicago to reflect on the sin of racism. In April of 2001, Cardinal George issued a pastoral letter on racism, “Dwell In My Love.” He wrote that the face of racism looks different today than it did thirty years ago. Overt racism is easily condemned, but the sin is often with us in subtle forms. In examining patterns of racism today, he identifies four forms that merit particular attention...

STEM Thank You

Dear St. Patricia Families,

Thank you very much for your donations to our STEM class. As a result of your generosity and kind support, we will be able to continue to expand and grow our STEM classes in 2023.

STEM is an acronym in education that stands for science, technology, engineering, and mathematics. STEM learning extends well beyond the classroom and technical fields. It encourages teamwork and collaboration among the students while using their problem-solving skills. It also promotes creativity and out-of-the-box thinking while they research and engineer their topics.  The analytical, research, and problem-solving skills they learn in STEM can be applied to any career in their future.

I am grateful for the outpouring of support and donations to the STEM classes. The children enjoy learning, researching, and engineering their creations. I personally want to wish you and your families a Happy New Year and hope everyone enjoyed their Christmas!

Drama News

Auditions for the play will be held on Tuesday, January 17th, from 3:00 until 6:00 in the school. Please pick up at the Main School Office doors. Tryouts are for speaking/singing roles ONLY. Due to the number of students who tryout, this process takes a long time. Some students will be done much earlier than 6 pm. If possible, please plan so that they can call you for early pickup if necessary. And, obviously, some students will be sitting around waiting to audition for a long time. Please be patient and use your time wisely and quietly.

In the event that callbacks are needed, parents will be contacted via email and/or phone Tuesday evening by 9pm and the full list will be posted by 8 am Wednesday in the lobby of the school. Callbacks – if necessary – will be held the next day, Wednesday, January 18th. The final cast list will be posted by 9 PM Wednesday on the school website and by 8 am Thursday in the school lobby.
