Bobcat E-Envelope

October 13, 2022

Hi SPS Families,

First-trimester progress reports are going home with the kids today. Please look them over, discuss the grades with your child(ren) and sign the sheet. They should be returned tomorrow, Friday. If you have any questions about a certain grade or class, please contact that teacher directly.

Student Council's first popcorn day is tomorrow, Friday. Popcorn is $1 a bag and will be delivered to the kids in the morning.

We are going to have our second fire drill tomorrow with the Roberts Park Fire Department. The fire department will be here to look at our procedures. We are also going to have a lockdown drill tomorrow with the Hickory Hills Police Department at 11:00. The teachers have been preparing the kids for both drills and I know we will do well. The drills are mandatory per the State of Illinois and our local cities.

We are having our first "Family Mass" on Sunday at 9:30 am. Please join us as we celebrate the Mass with fellow St. Patricia School families!

We are happy to announce that our school play this year is Annie! Mrs. Scialo and Mrs. Campbell told the kids yesterday during their lunches and they were extremely excited! Auditions for the different roles will take place in January.

I hope that many of you will be able to join us at Primetime on Tuesday, October 18th, at 7:00, for our first Parent Club Meeting! Come on out and join fellow parents as we talk about and converse on different upcoming events and ideas for this school year. Drinks are provided! If you cannot make it, there will be a Zoom link sent out as well.

As always, if you need anything, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Dear Parishioners,

I recently came across some interesting facts and figures about the importance of lay people in the life of the church.

Between 1965 and 2007 US Catholic population increased 48% and the number of priests available for pastoral ministry declined 8.5 %. Between 2004 and 2020 according to Dean Hoge “Priesthood in Year 2020” the estimated number of Catholics per parish will increase from 3086 to 3700...

October is Fire Prevention Month

Last week SPS welcomed local firefighters from Roberts Park Fire Protection District for an all-school assembly!  Firefighters modeled their suit and gear, shared important fire safety do's and dont's, and demonstrated with the students how to stop, drop, and roll. We are very thankful for our close partnership with Roberts Park FPD and for their dedication to keeping our communities safe!
