Bobcat E-Envelope

November 17, 2022

Hi SPS Families,

I can't believe we are one week away from Thanksgiving! I am extremely thankful for the opportunity I have been given here at St. Patricia and I am thankful for the great community of students, parents, families, and staff that came with this opportunity!

We had our Thanksgiving feast for PreK-2nd grade students yesterday. We could not have pulled this event off without the help of our parent volunteers who helped setup, prepare the food, decorate, donate food and water, and clean up. The kids and staff had a great time and it brought back some memories for me as well!

Report cards for the first trimester will go home with the kids tomorrow, Friday. If you have any questions about any grades, please contact that teacher directly or talk to them at parent/teacher conferences. Please remember that there is no school on Tuesday because of parent/teacher conferences.

I want to let you know that our PE teacher, Mrs. Debbie Page-O'Connell, has resigned her PE teaching position here at SPS. Mrs. Page-O'Connell will be taking care of her mom on a full-time basis and needs to focus on the needs of her mom at this time. Please keep Debbie and her family in your thoughts and prayers. I am in the process of finding a replacement for Mrs. Page-O'Connell and I will keep you updated as the weeks progress.

We have had an abundance of students out sick from school this past week. We are trying our best to make sure that any illnesses don't spread here at school so if your child(ren) exhibits any symptoms that may be contagious, please keep them home from school for the day.

As always, if you need anything, please don't hesitate to contact me and I wish all of you a Happy Thanksgiving!

Thanks!

School Calendar

Dear Parishioners,

Our Advent Mission, November 26th-27th, led by Father Mike Knotek, will give us some substance and hope as we prepare for Christmas. He will speak at all the Masses on the weekend and then lead the mission reflection on Monday and Tuesday evening, November 28th and 29th at 7:00 p.m.  He promises to feed us with solid food, rooted in the gospel.

Our Advent Theme is from Isaiah: "Come, let us climb the LORD's mountain, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may instruct us in his ways, and we may walk in his paths."

Advent Calendars will be given out to all Parishioners this weekend at all masses. Yes, everyone! I encourage families, single people, and those who live alone to say the prayers and take the time to spiritually walk through the four weeks of Advent. In the midst of so much trouble and sadness in the world, we need to recognize our blessings!

The season of Advent will begin on Sunday, November 27th. For the Catholic Church, the Advent wreath is a special way to celebrate the month leading up to Christmas Day. All SPS families will receive an Advent Wreath Activity Kit this week.

Advent Wreath Activity Kit Guidelines

To begin, you’ll need to decide where to place your wreath. If your family has young children, plan to position the wreath so that they can safely and independently view it.

Next, choose a time and place for your personal/family devotions. There is one devotion for each of the four Sundays leading up to Christmas and a daily devotion. Traditionally, each candle is “lit” on Sunday. If celebrating with family, talk with your family members and come up with a plan that best fits your family. You can even share a special time every Sunday with friends and family near and far – by lighting the candle at the same time and knowing that all are taking a moment for prayer together.
