Bobcat E-Envelope

December 15, 2022

Hi SPS Families,

I hope everyone is having a great week and I am sure a lot of you are getting ready for Christmas and everything that comes with it!

Tonight we have our Christmas concert at 6:00 pm in the Parish Center Gym. The kids should arrive by 5:40 pm and should go to the gym where we will have staff waiting for them inside the doors. Doors to the gym will open at 5:45 pm for families and seating is on a first-come, first-serve basis. We will start the concert promptly at 6:00 pm. Please see the concert information below for more detailed information about tonight.

Our Junior Honor Society will be sponsoring a Christmas fundraiser tomorrow, Friday. Students and staff are asked to bring in $1 to come out-of-uniform and are encouraged to wear their Christmas pajamas, sweatshirts, sweaters, socks, hats, etc.

Tuesday, December 20th, will be our last day of school before we start Christmas break. This is an 11:30 am dismissal for the students and please note that there is no aftercare offered on this day in order for all staff to enjoy a nice luncheon after the dismissal together at a local restaurant. Before care will still be available in the morning.

With the short week next week, students and staff may come out-of-uniform on Monday and Tuesday.

As always, if you need anything, or if you need assistance with anything over the Christmas break, please do not hesitate to contact us!

Thanks!

Dear Parishioners,

For many years when I was on my way to visit my mother at St. Mary’s Home, I would get off the Kennedy   Expressway at Fullerton and head east. There was always someone begging for support. They usually had a sign that said why.. Hungry, House Burned Down, Veteran, Jobless, or simply Need Help

The message was sobering. In a way, they were telling all who came by - “I am helpless, feel abandoned, and I am dependent on your generosity.” The Christmas Nativity scene helps us to consider the various people of the world...  At Christmas, we lay pride aside and all those things that divide us from one another. Yes, love involves sacrifice, but paradoxically when we give our lives away to friends, family, and the larger community, we find joy, hope, and lasting happiness...

Our Faith in Action

St. Patricia School celebrated the Feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12th with a prayer service led by Mrs. O’s 5th grade class. Students told the story of Mary’s appearance to Juan Diego and the miracle of the image of the Blessed Mother appearing on his cloak and roses blooming in the winter. Excellent work 5th grade, it was a beautiful prayer service!

Important Information

Please join us in the Parish Center as St. Patricia’s music students present our Children's Christmas Concert!

Students of every grade will be holding a Christmas Concert on Thursday 12/15 at

6:00 PM in the Parish Center of St. Patricia School. Songs that our music students will be

performing include Silent Night, Jingle Bells and much more!

  • Location: The Parish Center can be located to the North of St. Patricia Church. Your child can be dropped off at the Parish Center doors and find their music teacher, Mr. Villegas.
  • Roll-Call: Students must arrive no later than 5:40PM. Doors will open 15 minutes before the concert begins so students must be here before doors open in preparation for our concert.
  • Attire: Colors for the concert include Red, White, and Black. If your child would like to wear something festive (Santa hat, reindeer antlers, etc.) that is encouraged!
  • Grades: Student grades for their choir unit will be determined based on their participation, behavior and performance attire at the concert.

**Students that are unable to attend will have other opportunities for their grade**

It is important that every child makes their best effort to attend this concert. Every voice

is beautiful and helps a choir grow in sound when present. I look forward to seeing many

families and students at our Christmas Concert! Please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any comments, questions or concerns.

Musically yours,

Mr. Freddy A. Villegas
