Dear St. Patricia Parents and Family Members,
This school year is quickly coming to an end! We had such a wonderful field day for our students on Monday, courtesy of the Parent Club and our oh-so-generous parent volunteers who braved the wind and chill of the morning. We survived the unexpected “oil announcement” from Hickory Hills and were fortunate enough to hold the city workers back until later in the morning. I have since communicated with the city and asked that SPS be informed about these city projects and was assured that we would be. So, a huge and heartfelt thanks to all our parents who, from set up to clean up, helped make our field day a great success. The children loved it-especially the snowcones!
Thank you for turning in your ZOO permission slips for our ZOO Field Trip on June 6th. Your child’s teacher will contact you about whether you will chaperone or not. Thank you to so many who have volunteered and are virtus trained for this trip. Parents were chosen by lottery. If you weren't picked to attend then you could still drive and meet us there. However, if your child rode on the bus, they must return on the bus. Please remember that they should wear their gym uniforms and we are asking that NO CELL PHONES be brought on the trip. Remember, if your child is NOT participating, we are not holding classes on June 6th.
I am excited to share that thanks to the generosity of some parent club members, we are sponsoring LUCA at MOVIE NIGHT for our students and families on June 4th. We encourage you to come and park between 7 and 7:30, purchase some fun concessions, (first 30 cars will get free popcorn courtesy of Mr. Fisher) and sit back and enjoy the wonderful film LUCA. It’s heartwarming!
Special thanks to our 7th grade moms who helped us with the Class of 2022 Awards Evening on May 19th. We couldn’t have done it without you! Thanks also to our first grade teacher and a first grade parent who also helped that night. The evening was so beautiful and the recognition given to our 8th grade students was quite impressive and reflected their outstanding efforts and accomplishments throughout their years at St. Patricia’s!
Soon we will say goodbye to our 14 students from the Class of 2022! We celebrate and honor them at their Graduation Mass and Ceremony Thursday evening at 6:30 pm. Special congratulations to them, and to their families who supported Catholic education through the years, and to the SPS teachers and staff who helped guide and prepare them for the next part of their life journey!
Please remember that there will be no classes on May 27th and that classes resume on Tuesday, May 31st.
SPS Parents, at the end of this newsletter you will find the approved tuition for the 2022-23 school year. Registration is now open. Please don't wait to secure your placement for the next school year. More information about St. Patricia admission and registration is in this e-newsletter.
We are also looking forward to our very special Kindergarten Graduation and Pre-K celebrations.
On June 1st. Both ceremonies will take place in St. Patricia Church. These are such special moments for all of us and I look forward to celebrating them with you. Kindergarten graduation begins at 10 am and Pre-k Celebration begins at noon. Killoran Photography will be there for pictures and thanks to a generous parent donation Disney Characters will be available in the gym at 11:30 for photo ops with your children! (More happy moments to create with your child!) The Disney Characters will be available for both the kindergarten and pre-k children.
The last day of school is June 7th and Dismissal is at 1:30 pm. The LAST DAY of BEFORE and AFTER CARE is JUNE 3rd. The Closing Mass of the school year is at 12:30 pm. There is Pop’s Beef that day or a bag or hot lunch as well.
It’s also takeout Tuesday at Culvers in Bridgeview from 2-6pm.
Please remember that student report cards will be sent home on June 7th with your child. All tuition and fees must be paid or the student report card will be withheld. Please call the office if you have a concern about this. Remember, too, that the school chromebooks are leased and you will be contacted if there is any damage or loss to the chromebook your child used. This is per the initial chromebook agreement you signed. The chromebooks will be turned in and inspected before the students go home.
SPS has available openings for the next school year. We are interested in hiring a teacher aide for 3 days a week, a food service coordinator, and a person for our Before/After Extended Care Program. Call the School Office for further information and send your resume to Mrs. Tina Glogowski, Administrative Assistant, in the Main Office. Her email is: tglogowski@stpatriciaparish.com Thank you!
Be sure to note the tentative school calendar in this e-newsletter. The start date for all students is August 22nd. Also, please note the orientation dates and times for the pre-k and kindergarten students.
Last, but certainly not least, I would like you to know that it truly has been such a pleasure in serving as your interim principal these past 3 months. St. Patricia School is a beautiful and caring community with a warmth and openness that makes it a very special family and faith community. The faculty and staff are exceptional in every way! I have enjoyed working with Fr. Meany, your pastor, and am grateful he invited me to consider this interim role.
Thank you for your welcome and for your openness. Thank you for making it feel like HOME. I will be taking a pre-planned vacation from June 2-7 and will return for one final week from 6/8-6/15,
Spread the good news about St. Patricia School. It is an outstanding example of a faith-filled Catholic School living out its educational mission each and every day. The Holy Spirit lives here!!
Please be sure to talk with your children about the horrific tragedy in Uvalde, Texas. Pray for peace with them and reassure them that God is our protector and will keep us safe and St. Patricia School.
All Blessing and have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend!
Mary Iannucilli
Interim Principal
