Dear SPS Parents and Family Members,
As we enter the month of May, we are still wondering when Spring will appear! In the meantime, we wait for her arrival with warmer sunny days. We will celebrate a St. Patricia School Spring with all the wonderful activities and events planned for this merry month of May: YES, the sun is shining bright and we are growing our garden of family and friends here at St. Patricia School!
Our Student Council rocked Spirit Week and we ended last week with a pep rally and the traditional Student/Staff Volleyball Game. Tradition also dictated the winner…the students of course!
This week, schools all over the nation are celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week! We began the week with coffee, drinks, and pastry treats from Starbucks- a wonderful surprise contributed
by Parents Club and a special donor. All of us extend a grateful thank you for your thoughtfulness and generosity! We truly appreciated it! Our teachers and staff will be dressing down this week, having a special lunch on Friday, courtesy of the Office of Catholic Schools, and other surprises throughout the week. I hope that you will ask your child/children to write a thank you note to their teacher this week. I know our teachers and staff would certainly appreciate it!
Last Saturday, I attended the Mass for our second grade students who received their First Holy Communion. It was such a beautiful experience to see each student presented with their family members and then receive Jesus for the first time with them. Truly a very special Mass! Thanks to each of you for recognizing how special receiving the Eucharist is and making it so memorable for your child. An indelible memory indeed! Thanks to our Religious Education Director and staff for planning this special occasion!
As we continue to traverse May, the 7th and 8th graders have 2 field trips this week: Trout and Springfield are on the calendar. Also, the Garden Club is hoping to plant flowers this Saturday at 9 am. We could use your help. Service hours make this a good choice if you can make it!
Next week,on May 11th, our altar servers have a thank you pizza party, and you also have received information about the special May Crowning on Thursday, May 12th, at 6:30. This is such a special event for the 8th grade and 2nd grade students and covid has prevented it until this year. You are invited and welcome! Please come to celebrate and honor Mary, our Mother.
On Thursday, (5/5) of this week, your child will be bringing home a special yellow letter which explains the ALL SCHOOL ZOO Field Trip we are planning on June 6th. The letter contains all the information you need inclusive of cost and permission slip. We also need parent volunteers who are Virtus trained to help us out that day. Please read the letter and return the permission form and $11.00 by Tuesday May 24th. Thank you!
Don't forget our SPS Fundraiser on May 14th! Be sure you have your tickets to the Wine Mixer!
Bring your dancing shoes and checkbook! We have wonderful raffles items, including a $300 tuition credit, not to mention a wonderful assortment of spirits just waiting to be sampled! Don’t miss it! See you there!
I'm delighted to share with you that the Parent Club is sponsoring a special ALL SCHOOL FIELD DAY on Monday, May 23rd. ( Pray for good weather!) I have been working with Annette Wagner and Danielle Drzayich to plan a fun day for our students! I will be sending a letter home next Monday, May 9th, with all the details. Please be sure to read it. We will need volunteers for our Field Day too… Virtus trained, please.
There are other school events this month which I will address in another newsletter.
I do have one very special announcement which you need to know. With permission from
Mrs. Colleen Mazurek, it is with sadness that I share with you Colleen’s retirement from St. Patricia School. Yes, after 25 dedicated years, Colleen is retiring to be with her family and her soon to be born grandchild! Though happy for Colleen as she opens up a new chapter in her life story, we are losing a treasure beyond value! Colleen has given her all to St. Patricia School and to this community. She will be incredibly missed and will always be a part of the St. Patricia family that she helped create! We wish her well and thank her for all she has given this community. God’s blessings, Colleen, as you begin a new journey. We say farewell and send our love and gratitude with you as you take leave.
On behalf of the faculty and staff of St. Patricia School, I would like to wish all of our mothers a very happy and blessed Mother’s Day!
Peace and all good,
Mary Iannucilli
Interim Principal
St. Patricia School
