PRESENTATIONS & DISCUSSION

Community Master Plan Presentation

Staff presented a preliminary timeline and scope of work for developing a Community Master Plan along with the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council. City Council reached consensus to direct staff to begin a RFP process to hire an outside agency to lead the master planning effort.


Downtown Civic Engagement Task Force

Staff presented City Council with options on the selection process for the Downtown Civic Engagement Task Force.


Memorial Park General Discussion

Staff provided an update on short-, mid- and long-term action items to improve amenities in Memorial Park. City Council reached consensus to direct staff to begin planning for several of the items presented.


Softball Fields Update

Staff presented an update on softball field improvements at existing facilities.


Save Boca Citizens Petition

The City Attorney provided an update on the Save Boca Citizens Petition to review the Save Boca Charter Amendment & Ordinance that would require voter approval before the City may alienate, sell or lease City-owned land greater than one-half (0.5) acre with limited, clarifying exceptions to enable the City to function efficiently.

COUNCIL ACTION

Ordinance No. 5784 Save Boca Ordinance

City Council introduced Ordinance No. 5784, which would require voter approval before the City could sell, lease, or otherwise transfer certain City-owned land larger than one-half acre. The ordinance also includes limited and clarifying exceptions so the City can continue handling routine operations efficiently. Because this was the first reading, there was no Council discussion.
