The importers of what's billed as the world's most expensive Champagne have chosen The Wine List of Summit as their sole retail vendor in the metropolitan area during its initial brand launch. Boerl & Kroff is a relatively new ultra-high-end Champagne brand vinified by Champagne Drappier from a choice 2.2-acre parcel in Urville, France, that was once used to produce the private cuv�e of Charles de Gaulle and was used exclusively as the presidential champagne at the Elysee Palace. It has recently been introduced in Chicago and has also landed placements at several key Las Vegas venues including the Bellagio, Venetian and Mandarin Oriental. Boerl & Kroff Champagne made its Metro New York area debut at the Summit Wine and Food Festival on Sunday, September 22nd at which time The Wine List of Summit was named as their exclusive retail agent in this part of the country.

In 1995, Michel Drappier decided to separately vinify only the best berries from his vineyard and designated them exclusively for a new legendary brand - Boerl & Kroff. Available only in magnums, the champagne consists of 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay that are selectively hand-harvested. During the secondary fermentation the Champagne undergoes nearly a decade-long extended dosage contact and then is cleared of sediment before final corking in an effort to develop unique tastes and variants.

It is this process that the manufacturers claim makes Boerl & Kroff the world's most costly champagne. The packaging also reflects the champagne's ultra-elite status, using a special handmade natural five-piece cork ensuring a long life, a lacquered wooden case by Elie Bleu, and solid gold capsules.
