Volume 26. Issue 2. February 2024
PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Susan Dollar

Many of you know that I am a big Spurs fan. I've gotten to go to a couple of games this year, and although they tend to lose, I still go and cheer them on. Last week, the Spurs played the Minnesota Timberwolves, who are tied for first place in the Eastern Conference. The Timberwolves have won 34 games and only lost 15, compared to the Spurs record of 10-40. Needless to say, the Timberwolves were heavily favored and all bets were on them beating the Spurs.

But you know what? The underdog Spurs team actually beat the Timberwolves! They played hard, never gave up, and won the game...by 1 point. Yep. One point. That reminded me of a conversation I had with Pete Gallegos a few years ago, when he told the story of the first political race he entered. He's from a big family and they were all helping with is campaign, knocking on doors, collecting donations, and cheering him on. But Pete lost the race...by 1 point. His cousin didn't take the time to go vote. So Pete lost.

The moral of this story is that one point...one vote...one person can make a difference. It's up to each and every one of us to step up and do all that we can between now and November 5. You can't sit this one out. Step up and sign up to volunteer - there are jobs for everyone. We have 275 days to go - and we can make a difference. We just need to play hard and never give up. We can do this and we can win!

Proposition 8: The State of Texas should ensure that Texans are free to give or to withhold consent for any vaccine without coercion.

Proposition 9: The Republican Party of Texas should restrict voting in the Republican primary to only registered Republicans.

Proposition 10: The Texas Constitution should be amended to restore authority to the Texas Attorney General to prosecute election crimes.
