Administrative Appointment
Boise, ID -- 07/01/2022 -- Boise School District is pleased to announce the following administrative appointment.
Dr. Chris Taylor - Principal, Riverside Elementary School

Dr. Chris Taylor has served Idaho’s public school students since 1993. During that time he has worked in a wide variety of school-level and district-level positions. He currently works as the Boise School District’s Science & Sustainability Supervisor (2014 to present). 

In addition, Dr. Taylor has served students as an Elementary School Teacher (Liberty, 2006-2011; Amity, 1999-2003; Valley View, 1995-1999; and St. Nicholas in Rupert, ID, 1993-1995); Assistant Elementary School Principal (Shadow Hills, 2003-2004); Elementary School Principal (Pierce Park, 2004-2006); Secondary School Science and AVID Teacher (South Junior High School, 2011-2014). In addition, Dr. Taylor has worked as an Adjunct Faculty Member at Boise State University teaching Science Methods and Classroom Management (2004-2014).  

Dr. Taylor has also held a variety of curriculum, academic and professional development leadership roles in the Boise School District, including developing and writing new science curriculum for students in grades K-12, supporting STEM education for all students, and helping launch the District Sustainability Committee. He has received a number of significant awards, including Idaho's Science Teacher of the Year, Boise District's highest certified award - the Red Apple Award - and the Inspirational Teacher Award at South Junior High School. He was currently elected the National Science Teaching Association (NSTA) District Director for Idaho, Wyoming, and Montana.

Dr. Taylor has presented at many local, regional and national conferences regarding science standards, educational pedagogy, and sustainability initiatives. He is committed to the District’s Student-Centered Instruction initiative that provides the necessary support, encouragement and resources to ensure that each and every student can and will learn. He’s also dedicated to the District's Strategic Plan to prepare each student for post-secondary success, whether it be in college, career or competing in the global economy.  
 
Dr. Taylor earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University, a Master of Educational Administration Degree from the University of Idaho, an Educational Specialist in Executive Leadership, and just completed his Doctorate in Education at Boise State University.
