Administrative Appointments
Boise, ID -- 05/03/2021 -- Boise School District announces the following administrative appointments, effective the start of the 2021-2022 school year.
John Bale, Assistant Principal, Grace Jordan & Shadow Hills Elementary Schools

John Bale has served Boise School District students since 1990. During that time he has held a number of positions, including basketball and track coach (1990 to present); P.E. teacher (1996 to present, K-6 & 9-12); assistant summer school principal intern (2019, Frank Church Alternative Jr. High School); elementary summer school principal (2020, Grace Jordan Elementary); and assistant principal (2021, Alternative Summer High School, West Jr. High). He’s also served students as a Summer Youth Director (2009-2010, Boise State University) and has served as an adjunct faculty member at Boise State University co-instructing Kinesiology Methods since 2001.

Mr. Bale has presented at regional and national conferences regarding best practices in physical education, as well as multiple topics leading to successful public school partnerships. In addition, he’s been recognized for his work to mentor new-to-profession teachers and he has considerable instructional leadership skills and accomplishments in such areas as reading and math intervention.

Mr. Bale is a passionate educator who is well-respected among his colleagues. His positive attitude and commitment to the District’s Vision of preparing students for post-secondary success in college and career and in life, motivates his work and inspires others to achieve their highest potential.

Mr. Bale earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education K-12 from Boise State University, a Master's of Education degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Lesley University, and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho. 
Patrick Bass, Assistant Principal, South Junior High School
 
Patrick Bass has served students for 15 years. During that time, he has worked in a variety of teaching and administrative positions, all of which have focused on improving the educational experience for all students. Mr. Bass is a passionate educator who has significant skills in creating equitable educational environments and opportunities so that all students are prepared to succeed in college, career and in life.

As a professional educator, Mr. Bass has advocated for students in a wide variety of positions throughout his diverse career: 

  • Vocational Education Teacher (2006-2010, Northwest Suburban Integration School District, Brooklyn Park, MN); 
  • English Volunteer, (2010-2011, Augusto Santiago Bellido, Malaga, Spain); 
  • English Teacher (2011-2016, Camelback High School, Phoenix, AZ); 
  • Assistant Principal (2016-2017, Central High School, Phoenix, AZ);
  • Volunteer (2017-2018, University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia); 
  • AP English Teacher (2018-2019, Saguaro High School, Scottsdale, AZ); 
  • Assistant Principal (2019 to present, Dobson High School, Mesa, AZ).
  • Co-Chair Equity Task Force (2020 to present, Mesa Public Schools, Mesa, AZ)

Mr. Bass is committed to building strong relationships with parents, students, staff and community partners that translate into effective and equitable educational strategies which serve the needs of each and every student.  

Mr. Bass earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in American Racial and Multicultural Studies at Saint Olaf College, Northfield, MN; and his Master’s of Arts degree in Educational Leadership from Arizona State University.
James Bright, Principal, Longfellow Elementary School

James Bright has more than 25 years experience as an education professional. He currently serves as Principal at Hawthorne Elementary School (2015 to present) and Principal of the Boise Online School K-2 virtual learning program (2020 to present). During his career, he has served students in a variety of capacities, including assistant elementary school principal (Riverside and Amity - 2014-2015) and he has eighteen years of experience working as an elementary school teacher in Nampa, ID and Downey, California, teaching grades one, two, four, five and six.  
 
As an administrator in the Boise School District, Principal Bright upholds the core values of rigor, achievement, citizenship, and college and career readiness that have made this District so strong. His education career also includes extensive work in Title I schools, where he provided excellent academic programs and resources to meet the needs of at-risk and low-income students. 
 
Principal Bright is dedicated to motivating students to do their best in school and provides each student with opportunities to succeed both inside and outside the classroom. He has a life-long commitment to inspire learning in children through academics and character building.  
 
Principal Bright earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Child Development from California State University, Fullerton, CA and Master's degree from Northwest Nazarene University in Educational Leadership.
Liz Croy, Assistant Principal, Horizon Elementary School

Liz Croy has successfully served the students of the Boise School District in many capacities since 2001. She has effectively worked as a junior high school assistant principal (West Junior High - 2012 to present); elementary school principal (Mountain View - 2011-12); assistant elementary school principal (Whittier & Whitney - 2010-11); elementary school teacher (Maple Grove - 2009-10; Valley View - 2004-07; Madison - 2001-04); and elementary principal intern (Garfield, Liberty & Riverside - 2007-09).   

In addition, Ms. Croy has served as a District trainer in the Professional Development Core and Look 2 Learning programs. Her work in the Professional Development Core program has provided new teachers to the Boise School District with a clear and comprehensive introduction to the instructional skill set that is the core of the District’s vision for excellence in teaching. 

As an instructional leader, Ms. Croy provides students with equal opportunities to access District programs and achieve success. Ms. Croy praises student success and works to build positive school spirit. She is dedicated to working collaboratively with parents and staff members to see that students succeed both academically and socially.  

Ms. Croy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University and a Master's degree in Educational Administration from University of Idaho.
Dr. Adria David, Principal, Owyhee Elementary School
 
Dr. Adria David has served Idaho's public school students since 1997. She began her career as a first grade teacher at Sacajawea Elementary School in the Caldwell School District. She also served as Reading Coach in the Caldwell School District and Instructional Literacy Coach and Literacy Consultant in the Vallivue School District. In addition, Dr. David served as the Response to Intervention Coordinator for the State Department of Education. In the Boise School District, Dr. David worked as Assistant Principal at South Junior High School, Principal at Lowell Elementary School (2016 to 2019), Assistant Principal at Grace Jordan and Riverside Elementary Schools (2019 to 2020) and Assistant Principal at Amity and Grace Jordan Elementary Schools (2020 to present).
 
Dr. David is a dedicated, knowledgeable and forward-thinking educator focused on preparing students for success in college, career and citizenship. Her wide range of knowledge and experience in supporting academic achievement among all students is well-respected among educators. She is committed to providing excellent academic opportunities for students and quality professional development opportunities for instructional staff members. 
 
Dr. David earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Multidisciplinary Studies in Elementary Education from Eastern Oregon State (College) University, Master of Curriculum and Instruction degree from Northwest Nazarene University, Master's of Educational Specialist Degree in Administration from Northwest Nazarene University, and Doctorate of Philosophy Degree in Educational Leadership from Northwest Nazarene University.
Bryce England, Assistant Principal, West Junior High School

Bryce England has served the students of the Boise School District in a variety of capacities since 1999. He has served students as a science teacher (1999-2009, North Junior High School); athletic director, wrestling and football coach (2008-2009, North Junior High School); summer school principal (2010, Whitney Elementary); intern elementary school principal (2009-2010, Whitney & Liberty elementaries); assistant junior high principal, (2010-2011, South Junior High School); assistant high school principal (2011 to 2013, Borah High School); and currently serves as Principal of Longfellow Elementary School (2013 to present.) 

Mr. England is a positive, energetic educational leader who believes in the success of each and every child and he strives to build positive school-community relations that work to the advantage of the school and student population. He is committed to the District’s Vision of preparing students for success in college, career and in life. 

Mr. England earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Earth Science Education from the University of Idaho, and his Master’s degree in Educational Administration from the University of Phoenix. 
Helga Frankenstein, Principal, Treasure Valley Math & Science Center & Supervisor, District Gifted Programs
 
Helga Frankenstein has served Idaho’s public school students for 27 years. During that time, she has worked as a third grade teacher (3 years - Liberty Elementary); fourth, fifth and sixth grade teacher (9 years - Trail Wind Elementary); third/fourth grade combination Gifted and Talented Education Teacher (4 years - Monroe Elementary); assistant elementary school principal (1 year - Horizon Elementary); and she currently serves as the Boise School District’s GATE Supervisor (7 years). 

In addition, she has worked as a Gifted Education Consultant and a Mentor for the Gifted Education Facilitator in the McCall Donnelly School District (2 years). Helga also supervised student teachers for Boise State University (2 years). Helga is a recognized and respected educational leader who has committed herself to making certain students have every opportunity to succeed. She is dedicated to the District’s Strategic Plan Vision of preparing every student for success in college, in career and in life.  

She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University, a Master's of Education degree in Educational Administration from the University of Idaho and an Endorsement in Gifted and Talented Education from Northwest Nazarene University. 
Dan Knight, Assistant Principal, Riverside & Amity Elementary Schools

Dan Knight has served public school students for more than 30 years. During that time, he has worked as a Principal (Albany Options School, Albany, OR); Assistant Principal (South Albany High School, Albany, OR); History Teacher and Event Manager (Woodburn High School, Woodburn, OR); Secondary Social Studies Teacher (Molalla High School, Molalla River, OR); Elementary Physical Education Teacher (Hayesville Elementary School and Rosedale Elementary School, Salem-Keizer, OR); Assistant Principal (Borah High School, Boise School District (2014-15); Assistant Principal (Frank Church High School, Boise School District (2015-18); Assistant Principal, Morley Nelson & Shadow Hills Elementary Schools, Boise School District (2018-2019); and Assistant Principal, Horizon Elementary School, Boise School District (2019 to present).  

Mr. Knight is a collaborative, compassionate, energetic, can-do educator committed to providing an excellent educational program for each and every student. He is dedicated to the District’s Vision of preparing students for success in college, career and in life. He has successfully served on School Improvement and Professional Learning Communities in the schools where he's worked to establish an effective culture of academic success. 

Mr. Knight earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Western Oregon University, a Master's of Secondary Education degree from Western Oregon University, and completed his Continuing Administrative License at the University of Oregon.
Amanda Kuznia, Assistant Principal, Morley Nelson Elementary School
 
Amanda Kuznia has served Idaho’s public school students for 13 years. During that time, she has worked as a 4th and 5th grade teacher in the West Ada School District (2008-2012, Spalding Elementary); 6th grade teacher and 5/6 grade teacher (2012-2016, Koelsch Elementary - Boise School District); K-12 Instructional Technology Specialist (2016-2020, Boise School District) and Administrator, Boise Online School (2020 to present, Boise School District).

Mrs. Kuznia is a well-respected and knowledgeable professional educator who is committed to the Boise School District’s Vision of preparing each and every student for success in college, career and in life. She creates an educational climate of high expectations for student learning and behavior and builds strong relationships with parents through effective school communications. She has significant professional development experience, including, but not limited to, providing Google Training for Educators, Sound Grading Practices, Digital Citizenship and Literature Circles. She has presented at regional, national and international conferences on educational technology and best uses in the classroom. She has successfully worked in school settings with rich student diversity and has helped create highly academic and rigorous school environments where all students can succeed.   

She has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from California State University, Chico, CA; a Master’s of Arts degree in Counseling & Psychology from National University; an Elementary Teaching Certificate, K-8, from Northwest Nazarene University and an Educational Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Northwest Nazarene University.
Monica Nydegger, Principal, Hawthorne Elementary School

Monica Nydegger has served Idaho’s public school students since 2002. During that time, she has worked as an elementary school teacher (Grades K & 5 - West Ada School District and Boise School District from 2002-06; Grade 4, Highlands Elementary, 2006-12; Grade 2, Horizon Elementary, 2012-15); and K-12 Integration Specialist, Professional Development Team (2015-18); Assistant Principal, Grace Jordan & Riverside Elementary Schools (2018 to 2019); and Assistant Principal (Whitney Elementary School, (2019 to present).  

Mrs. Nydegger has significant experience serving on the Leadership Teams of the schools in which she has worked. She has served on numerous site-based and District level committees, which included curriculum writing and implementing SMART Goals - goals that are Strategic & Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Results-based and Timebound. In her time serving on the Professional Development Team as an Integration Specialist, she had the opportunity to support teachers in planning and implementing integrated instruction, as well as facilitating trainings to educators in support of the District’s Strategic Plan. In her current role, Mrs. Nydegger continues her commitment to support teachers, staff and our District's Vision of preparing students for college, career and citizenship.

Principal Nydegger is a collaborative instructional leader who realizes that when educators come together to share, problem solve, discuss and brainstorm in a Professional Learning Community, the students are the ultimate winners. Mrs. Nydegger is dedicated to creating a safe, positive and dynamic school culture for learning, providing leadership and direction, while turning challenges into opportunities.

Mrs. Nydegger earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from the University of Idaho and a Master's of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho.
Stacey McKenna, Assistant Principal, Whitney Elementary School

Stacey McKenna has served Idaho’s public school students since 2008. During that time, she has worked in a variety of positions, including as a placement coordinator/substitute teacher for the Idaho Virtual Academy (2009 to 2013); a teacher in the West Ada School District (2014 to 2015); and a teacher in the Boise School District (Horizon Elementary School, 2015 to present). She’s also worked as a summer school administrator (2019-2020, Lowell Elementary) and as an Administrative Designee where she serves as the acting administrator at Horizon Elementary School (2017 to present). In addition, she is currently the Principal for Secondary Traditional Summer School in the Boise School District. 

Additional school leadership experience includes serving as a Title I Coach (2019 to 2020); Instructional Lead (2016-2018, 2019-2021); Building Technology Lead (2018-2019); and 2nd Grade Math Curriculum Writer for Boise Online School (2020-2021). She’s also served on a number of District committees regarding teaching and student testing. Mrs. McKenna is a knowledgeable and respected professional educator who builds strong and effective relationships with students, staff, parents and community members that helps create an educational environment where students can thrive and grow.

Ms. McKenna earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University and her Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Boise State University.
Faith Reader, Assistant Principal, Frank Church High School

Faith Reader has served Idaho’s public school students since 2006. During that time, she has served as an English Language Arts Teacher in a number of school districts and school systems - Kuna School District (grades 9-11, 2008 to 2011); Nampa School District (grades 10 -12, 2006 to 2013); and Abu Dhabi Education Council, Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (grades 4, 6-7, 2013-2016). Mrs. Reader also served as the Boise School District’s Secondary Reading Coach (2016-2020) and she currently works as Assistant Principal at South Junior High School (2020 to present).

Mrs. Reader has successful experience in serving the diverse needs of each and every student. As the District’s Secondary Reading Coach, she served the needs of secondary students at 12 school campuses in the Boise School District. Mrs. Reader is a strong instructional leader who is committed to the Boise School District’s Vision of graduating students who are prepared for college, career, and citizenship. She builds strong relationships with students, staff and parents and creates a positive educational environment where each student can achieve, learn and grow.  

Mrs. Reader earned her Bachelor of Arts degree in English and Secondary English Education from Northwest Nazarene University; her Master's of Education degree in Reading from Northwest Nazarene University and her Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from Northwest Nazarene University.
