Darryl Gerber - Science & Health Supervisor, Boise School District
Darryl Gerber has served students in the Boise School District since 1997. He has worked as Science Teacher (South Junior High School, 1997 - 2002); Elementary School Intern Principal (Amity Elementary School, 2002 - 2004); Site Administrator/Assistant Principal (Fort Boise Mid High School, 2004 - 2007); Principal/Assistant Principal (Senior High Alternative Summer School, 2002 - 2006); Principal (Amity Elementary School, 2007 - 2014); Principal, Garfield Elementary School (2014-2020); and Principal, East Junior High School (2020 to present). Mr. Gerber has also served on the District’s Negotiations Team for several years.
Mr. Gerber is a knowledgeable and dedicated education professional who believes each student can succeed in school and in life. He is dedicated to the District’s Student-Centered Learning Model, which is focused on making sure each and every student can learn successfully by providing the necessary resources, support and guidance.
Mr. Gerber is a collaborative leader who builds effective relationships with parents, students and staff. He is committed to providing a positive school culture where each and every student feels welcome and receives every opportunity to learn and grow academically and socially.
He is committed to establishing positive school community relations by improving the communication, culture and climate of each school where he has worked by effectively hiring, managing and developing staff. He is dedicated to the District's Strategic Plan by establishing an exceptionally aligned curriculum that prepares students for success in the work environment, college and university studies and citizenship.
Principal Gerber has a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Management from Washington State University, a Master of Education degree from the University of Washington and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho.

Amy Pinkerman - Principal, Shadow Hills Elementary School
Amy Pinkerman has served as an educator in the Boise School District since 1997. During that time, she has worked as an Elementary School Teacher (Mtn. View, 1997-2010; Maple Grove, 2010-2011); Elementary School Assistant Principal (Shadow Hills, 2011-2012; Morley Nelson, 2012-2013); Summer School Elementary School Principal (Whittier, 2011; Lowell, 2012); Principal (Taft Elementary School, 2013 to 2016); Principal at Whitney Elementary School (2016 - 2020); Special Programs Principal for Madison Early Childhood, STEP, and ASCENT (2020-2022); and Assistant Principal (Amity & Shadow Hills Elementary Schools, 2022-present).
She is dedicated to the District’s Student-Centered Learning Model and believes each and every student can learn successfully when provided the resources, support and guidance.
Ms. Pinkerman has distinguished herself as a professional administrator who is committed to establishing positive and effective relationships with students, parents and staff members as well as an advocate for Special Education inclusion and programming. She has a thorough understanding of the PSIT process to improve learning for all students and support teachers in effective interventions. She has a thorough knowledge of assessment, curriculum and instruction and served as a strong instructional leader at Taft Elementary School and Whitney Elementary School.
Under her leadership, Ms. Pinkerman successfully implemented the Community Schools model at Whitney Elementary School, a program with an integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development and family engagement that leads to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities.
Ms. Pinkerman earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in French with a Teaching Certificate from Gonzaga University, a Master of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University, and a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho.

Alison Ward - Sustainability Supervisor, Boise School District
Alison Ward has served students in the Boise School District for 18 years. During this time, she has worked as a Student Teacher (Boise High School, 2001-2002); Science Teacher (Boise High School, 2006-2022); and Science Supervisor (Boise School District Administration, 2022 to present). She also served as Boise High School’s Science Department Chair (2010-2022); Director and Lead Teacher at the Downtown Boise Teaching Farm; Instructional Lead Team Member; and Green Schools National Network Presenter. In addition, Ms. Ward currently leads the District’s Sustainability Committee which is committed to conservation, ecology and protection of our environment.
Ms. Ward also works as a Teaching Fellow as part of Boise State University’s Writing Project where she co-coordinates and instructs professional development for K-12 teachers in the new Idaho State Science Standards (2016 to present) and Project Based Learning (2017-2019). As part of this work, she has successfully worked collaboratively with the Idaho State Department of Education, Boise State Writing Project and the Idaho STEM Action Center. She has also written exam questions for the Next Generation Science Standards and Advanced Placement Environmental Standards.
Ms. Ward received the Innovative Educator Award (2021); Environmental Educator of the Year (Secondary) Award, Idaho Environmental Education Association (2020); Master Educator, State of Idaho, (awarded 2019); Science Teacher of the Year Award, Region VII (NSTA, 2014); and Chemistry Teacher of the Year Award, Region IV (ACS, 2013).
Ms. Ward believes each and every student can learn if provided the appropriate support and resources to do so. She is committed to the District’s Strategic Plan Vision of preparing students for success beyond high school, in college, career and in life, as well as the District’s Student-Centered Learning System that is committed to providing the resources, support and guidance to ensure each and every student will learn successfully.
She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Visual Arts from Boise State University, a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from Boise State University and Master of Arts degree in Education - Curriculum and Instruction from Boise State University.

Dr. Gale Zickefoose, Principal, East Junior High School
Dr. Gale Zickefoose has 33 years of experience in serving public school students in the Treasure Valley. He has worked as an Elementary School Teacher/Coach in Nampa (Central Elementary & Nampa High, 1990-93); Assistant Soccer Coach (Northwest Nazarene University, 1992-94); Elementary School Teacher/Coach in the Boise School District (Hawthorne, 1993-97); Elementary School Intern Principal (Hawthorne, 1995-97; Amity & Valley View, 1997-98; Garfield & Cynthia Mann, 1998-99); Elementary Principal (Collister, 1999-03; Amity, 2003-07; Horizon, 2007 - 2015; and Shadow Hills, 2015 - present).
Dr. Zickefoose is a well respected instructional leader whose daily focus is on the success, safety and well being of each and every student, in addition to his staff. He is committed to the District’s Student-Centered Learning Model that provides the resources, support and guidance to see that each and every student learns successfully.
Dr. Zickefoose is an engaging and inspirational school leader who establishes a school culture that is conducive to academic and social success. He is committed to the District's Strategic Plan of providing academic rigor and high expectations for students and helping prepare each student for success in college, career and in life.
Dr. Zickefoose earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Northwest Nazarene University, Master of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Northwest Nazarene University, Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership/Idaho Certified School Superintendent from University of Idaho and Doctorate Degree in Educational Philosophy from University of Idaho.
