Boise School District Announces Administrative Appointments

Boise, ID -- 04/04/2025 -- Boise School District is pleased to announce the following administrative appointments, effective the 2025-2026 school year.

Dr. Adria David, Principal, Hillcrest Elementary School


Dr. David is a passionate and experienced educational leader who has been serving Idaho’s public school students since 1997. Throughout her career—as a first grade teacher, reading coach, literacy consultant, and school administrator—she has built a reputation for creating welcoming, inclusive learning environments where every student is supported and valued.


Most recently, Dr. David has served as Principal at Owyhee Elementary School, where she has been instrumental in fostering a student-centered approach to learning. She believes deeply in the power of relationships and in cultivating a school culture that ensures all students feel a sense of belonging and are empowered to succeed.


Dr. David is a strong collaborator who values the expertise and voice of staff. She works closely with educators to build professional capacity and continuously improve instructional practices. Her leadership reflects a deep commitment to the Boise School District’s Strategic Plan, with a focus on increasing student achievement, creating safe and supportive learning environments, and strengthening family and community engagement.


Her professional journey includes service as Assistant Principal at South Junior High School, Principal of Lowell Elementary School, and Assistant Principal roles at multiple Boise elementary schools, including Grace Jordan, Riverside, and Amity. She also brings state-level experience as the former Response to Intervention Coordinator for the Idaho State Department of Education.


A forward-thinking and dedicated educator, Dr. David is committed to academic excellence and equitable opportunities for all learners. Her leadership style emphasizes collaboration, high expectations, and continuous growth—for both students and staff.


Dr. David holds a Bachelor of Science in Multidisciplinary Studies in Elementary Education from Eastern Oregon State (College) University, a Master’s in Curriculum and Instruction, an Educational Specialist Degree in Administration, and a Doctorate in Educational Leadership—all from Northwest Nazarene University.

Alex Hopkins, STEP Principal and Medicaid Special Education Supervisor



Boise School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Alex Hopkins as the new STEP Principal and Medicaid Special Education Supervisor. Alex brings a wealth of knowledge, experience, and passion to her new role, with a strong background in special education, behavioral supports, and leadership.


Alex has been serving as a Special Education Consulting Teacher in the Boise School District since 2023, where she has supported educators in implementing best practices in special education, compliance, and positive behavioral interventions. She has also played a key role in organizing and managing curriculum for special education programs spanning early childhood through secondary transition.


Prior to that, Alex served as the Statewide Coordinator for Idaho SESTA (Special Education Support and Technical Assistance) from 2020 to 2023. In that role, she developed and led the implementation of The Idaho Tiered Behavior Supports (ITBS) project and provided training and technical assistance to school teams and special education directors across the state.


In Summer 2024, Alex led the planning and coordination of the District’s Extended School Year program as the ESY Administrator, ensuring successful and compliant delivery of services for all eligible students.


Alex holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education and Elementary Education (2015), a Master’s in Educational Leadership (2018), and is currently pursuing an Educational Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction at Boise State University, with expected graduation in 2026.


A dedicated professional and leader, Alex has also contributed her time and expertise as a member of the Broncos of the Last Decade (BOLD) Alumni Committee and the National Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) State Leaders Committee, where she led the national funding workgroup.


Her professional goals align with Boise School District’s mission: to support continuous improvement, foster collaborative and inclusive environments, and improve outcomes for all learners using a Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) framework.

Jeff Roberts, Assistant Principal, Timberline High School


Mr. Roberts has served students in the Boise School District since 1993, bringing more than three decades of experience as a dedicated educator and collaborative leader. He is deeply committed to the District’s mission of educating each and every student to thrive and to our shared vision of preparing students for success in college, career, and in life.


Mr. Roberts is known for creating a welcoming, inclusive, and supportive school environment where all students are valued, empowered, and encouraged to succeed. His leadership is rooted in the belief that every student can and will learn when provided with the necessary support, resources, and guidance. He works closely with teachers, staff, families, and the broader community to ensure that students feel a strong sense of connection and belonging.


Throughout his career, Mr. Roberts has held a wide range of roles in the Boise School District. He currently serves as Principal of Fairmont Junior High School and has previously served as Assistant Principal at both Fairmont and Boise High School. He began his career as a social studies teacher at Les Bois Junior High School, where he also served as Athletic Director and coach. His leadership has extended into summer school programs and alternative education settings, always with a focus on student success.


Mr. Roberts is also a strong advocate for AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination), a college readiness program designed to close opportunity gaps and support students in reaching their full academic potential. His experience with AVID has helped equip students with the skills, strategies, and confidence they need to pursue higher education and lifelong success.


In addition to his work in education, Mr. Roberts served in the U.S. Army and the Idaho Army National Guard, including a deployment to Iraq. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his outstanding military service.


Mr. Roberts holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Studies Education from Northwest Nazarene University, a Master of Arts Degree in Athletic Administration from Idaho State University, and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho.

Chad Wright, Principal, Timberline High School


Boise School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Chad Wright as the next principal of Timberline High School, effective at the start of the 2025-2026 school year.


With 26 years of experience serving Idaho’s public school students, Principal Wright brings a deep commitment to student-centered learning and academic excellence. His leadership is grounded in the Boise School District’s vision of preparing every student for success in college, career, and in life.


Mr. Wright has served in a wide variety of educational leadership roles, including his current position as Principal of Les Bois Junior High School. His previous experience includes serving as Assistant Principal at Capital High School, Les Bois Junior High, and Fairmont Junior High, as well as a summer school administrator, physical education teacher, athletic administrator, and coach. This breadth of experience has shaped a well-rounded leader who supports students in both academics and their personal growth beyond the classroom.


Principal Wright is known for fostering a positive, inclusive school culture where all students feel supported, valued, and a true sense of belonging. He believes in high expectations and academic rigor for every student and is committed to creating strong partnerships with families, staff, and the wider school community to ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.


A strong collaborator, Mr. Wright is dedicated to supporting and empowering staff through open communication, shared leadership, and a focus on continuous improvement. He works closely with teachers and support staff to build a positive, professional environment where educators are valued and equipped to do their best work on behalf of students.


A passionate advocate for post-secondary readiness, Mr. Wright has been a strong supporter of AVID and other District professional development initiatives aimed at improving outcomes for all students. He has also contributed to the District’s curriculum development and served on the Safety and Security Team.


Mr. Wright earned both his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education and Master of Arts in Educational Leadership from Boise State University.
