Administrative Appointments
Boise, ID - 05/15/2019 - Boise School District is pleased to announce the following administrative appointments, effective July 1, 2019 for the start of the 2019-2020 school year.
Dr. Adria David - Assistant Principal, Grace Jordan & Riverside Elementary Schools

Dr. Adria David has served Idaho's public school students since 1997. She currently serves as Principal at Lowell Elementary School (2016 to present). She began her career as a first grade teacher at Lewis & Clark Elementary School in the Caldwell School District. She also served as Instructional Literacy Coach and Literacy Consultant in the Caldwell School District. In addition, Dr. David served as the Response to Intervention Coordinator for the State Department of Education. In the Boise School District, Dr. David worked as Assistant Principal at South Junior High School.

Dr. David is a dedicated, knowledgeable and forward-thinking educator focused on preparing students for success in college, career and citizenship. Her wide range of knowledge and experience in supporting academic achievement among all students is well-respected among educators. She is committed to providing excellent academic opportunities for students and quality professional development opportunities for instructional staff members. 

Dr. David earned her Bachelor of Science Degree in Multidisciplinary Studies in Elementary Education from Eastern Oregon State (College) University, Master of Curriculum and Instruction Degree from Northwest Nazarene University, Master of Educational Specialist Degree in Administration from Northwest Nazarene University, and Doctorate of Philosophy Degree in Educational Leadership from Northwest Nazarene University. 

Pamela Dietz - Principal, Koelsch Elementary School

Pamela Dietz has served public school students in Idaho since 2005. During her 14 year public school career, Ms. Dietz has worked as an education paraprofessional (Borah High School - 2005-06), Social Studies Instructor (Eagle High School - 2006-07 and Borah High School - 2007-14), K-12 District Integration Specialist (2014 to 2017),  Assistant Principal for both Riverside Elementary and Grace Jordan Elementary (2017-18) and Assistant Principal at Frank Church High School (2018 to present).

Ms. Dietz is dedicated to the Boise School District's Vision of preparing students for success in college, career and in citizenship. She is a strong advocate for all students, including diverse student populations. Ms. Dietz has a strong record of building positive and effective relationships with students, parents, staff members and community members. She is a well-respected and knowledgeable educator focused on providing excellent education opportunities for each and every student. 

Ms. Dietz earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Social Science from Lewis-Clark State College, Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Boise State University and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho. 
Abbey Griffitts - Principal, Lowell Elementary School

Abbey Griffitts has served the Boise School District since 2003. During that time she has worked as an Elementary Teacher at Taft Elementary School (2003-08) and Highlands Elementary School (2008-16), and as Assistant Principal at Shadow Hills Elementary School, Morley Nelson Elementary School (2016-18), and Horizon Elementary School (2018 to present).  

In her years as an educator, Ms. Griffitts has served as a mentor teacher, taught adjunct courses at The College of Idaho, and supported teachers as an instructional leader. She is an advocate of public education and believes that all students can succeed.

Ms. Griffitts is committed to the Boise School District’s Strategic Plan and Core Values of Respect, Responsibility, Honesty, Dignity, and Teamwork. She is a collaborative leader who works to support the needs of each and every student, and create a positive school culture.  

Ms. Griffitts earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Business with Minors in Education and Reading from The College of Idaho, a Masters of Arts Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from The College of Idaho, and her Education Specialist Degree in Administration from Northwest Nazarene University.
Jeff Hultberg - Assistant Principal, Capital High School
 
Jeff Hultberg has served students in the Boise School District since 1998. During his public school career, Mr. Hultberg has worked as a Principal (South Junior High School - 5 years), Assistant Principal (Timberline High School - 5 years), Assistant Principal/Elementary Intern (Horizon and Whitney elementary schools - 1 year), Social Studies and Math Teacher (Boise High School - 9 years), Head Baseball Coach (10 years, including 4 years as Head Coach at Boise High), and Sophomore Assistant Football Coach (Boise High - 4 years)
 
Mr. Hultberg is a strong collaborative leader who has a record of establishing positive and effective relationships with parents, students, staff and the community. He has excellent leadership and communication skills that will enable him to contribute to the continued successful academic and activities tradition at Capital High School. 
 
Mr. Hultberg is a skilled education professional who is dedicated to helping all students and teachers achieve their fullest potential through the educational process. He is experienced in working with diverse student populations and their families. Mr. Hultberg is committed to the District's Vision of preparing each student for success in college, career and in life. In addition, he is supportive of the District's AVID program, a nationally recognized college readiness program that helps student follow their post-secondary dreams.  
 
Mr. Hultberg earned an Associate of Arts Degree in Criminal Justice from Boise State University, a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Political Science from Boise State University and a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership from Northwest Nazarene University.
Dan Knight - Assistant Principal, Horizon Elementary School

Dan Knight has served public school students for nearly 30 years. During that time, he has worked as a Principal (Albany Options School, Albany, OR), Assistant Principal (South Albany High School, Albany, OR), History Teacher and Event Manager (Woodburn High School, Woodburn, OR), Secondary Social Studies Teacher (Molalla High School, Molalla River, OR), Elementary Physical Education Teacher (Hayesville Elementary School and Rosedale Elementary School, Salem-Keizer, OR), Assistant Principal (Borah High School, Boise School District (2014-15), Assistant Principal (Frank Church High School, Boise School District (2015-18), and Assistant Principal, Morley Nelson & Shadow Hills Elementary Schools, Boise School District (2018 to present).  

Mr. Knight is a collaborative, compassionate, energetic, can-do educator committed to providing an excellent educational program for each and every student. He is dedicated to the District’s Vision of preparing students for success in college, career and in life. He has successfully served on School Improvement and Professional Learning Communities in the schools where he's worked, helping establish a culture of academic success. 

Mr. Knight earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Western Oregon University, a Master of Secondary Education Degree from Western Oregon University, and completed his Continuing Administrative License at the University of Oregon. 
Melanie Koch - Principal, South Junior High School

Melanie Koch has served Idaho's public school students for nearly 25 years. During that time, she has worked as an Elementary School Teacher in the Boise District (10 years) and Meridian District (2 years), Assistant Principal and Principal in the Meridian District (Principal, Linder Elementary - 3 years; Principal, Willow Creek Elementary - 2 years; Assistant Principal, Eagle High & Mountain View High - 2 years), Principal at Hidden Springs Elementary School (1 year), and Principal, Morley Nelson Elementary School (2015 to present). 

Principal Koch is a caring and compassionate educational leader who believes in building positive and effective relationships with students, staff and parents. She is committed to establishing a culture of school success by creating strong parent and community involvement. Principal Koch is dedicated to academic rigor for each and every student and believes in preparing students to succeed beyond high school, whether it's in college, career or citizenship. Principal Koch is an advocate for trauma-informed schools and breaking down the barriers for the crisis of poverty. 

During her public school career, Principal Koch has implemented Tier 1 and 2 Positove Behavior Interventions & Support systems, implemented AVID Elementary at Morley Nelson Elementary, created multi-level intervention systems for math and reading, and implemented the co-teaching model for the English Language Development program. Principal Koch is proud to have implemented the Community Schools Model at Morley Nelson Elementary.  

Principal Koch has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Northwest Nazarene University, a Master of Education Degree in Leadership from University of Idaho and a Master in Education Degree in Reading Curriculum from Grand Canyon University (Phoenix, AZ).
Erin Kubena - Assistant Principal, Frank Church High School 

Erin Kubena’s career in public school education begin in 2000 when she served as a Title One math teacher in the Meridian School District (now West Ada School District). Since that time, she has successfully held a variety of positions in the Boise School District, from Elementary School Teacher at Hawthorne Elementary School (2000-2008), Summer School Program Principal at Franklin and Hawthorne elementary schools (2002-09), Intern Principal at Trail Wind and Koelsch elementary schools (2008-09) and Trail Wind and Horizon elementary schools (2009-10), Assistant Principal at East Junior High School (2009-10), Assistant Principal at East Junior High School and Riverside Elementary School (2010-12), Assistant Principal at Horizon Elementary School (2012-13), Principal at Riverside Elementary School (2013-2018), and Assistant Principal at Capital High School (2018 to present).

In each of the positions she has held, Mrs. Kubena has demonstrated a strong commitment and dedication to the students she serves and to effective instructional leadership skills that have helped staff and students succeed in the classroom. She is dedicated to the Boise School District’s Strategic Plan Vision of preparing students for success in college, career and citizenship.

Mrs. Kubena earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Boise State University, a Master of Education Degree in Technology from Lesley University (Cambridge, MA) and a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho. 
Jean Lovelace - Assistant Principal, White Pine & Whittier Elementary Schools

Jean Lovelace has 40 years of experience serving the public in Colorado and Idaho. She currently serves as Assistant Principal at White Pine Elementary School and Trail Wind Elementary School (2017 to present).  

In Cortez, Colorado she worked as a Medical Technologist at Southwest Memorial Hospital (1979-1989), as a Youth Counselor at Sunrise Youth Shelter (1989-1990), and as the Principal and Counselor at Southwest Open School (1990-2001). After moving to Boise she worked as a School Designer for Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound (2001-2002) and as the Organizational Director at ANSER Charter School (2002-2003). Ms. Lovelace served as an Intern Principal at both Cole and Franklin Elementary Schools during the fall of 2003, and as Principal at Whitney Elementary School from 2003 to 2016. Also, in 2016, she was an Assistant Principal at Trail Wind Elementary School and a Positive Behavior Intervention & Support Trainer. She was, and is, the Assistant Principal at Trail Wind and White Pine Elementary Schools from 2017 to the present.

Ms. Lovelace is a well respected instructional leader who creates a strong school culture based on the District’s values of Respect, Dignity, Honesty, Responsibility and Teamwork. She believes that every student can achieve a high degree of academic success. Ms. Lovelace has extensive school leadership experience, and is dedicated to seeing all school stakeholders learn and grow. She facilitates several Positive Behavior Support and Social Emotional Learning projects that help adults and children find functional ways to manage emotions and behavior. 

Ms. Lovelace earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in General Biology from Fort Lewis College, a Medical Technology Degree from Parkview Episcopal Hospital, a Master of Arts in Counseling and Psychology from Adams State College, and an Educational Leadership Degree from Northern Arizona University.
Dan McGee - Assistant Principal, Boise High School

Dan McGee has served public school students for more than 30 years. He currently works as Assistant Principal at Capital High School (2015-present). He also has worked as a high school Social Studies Student Teacher and Physical Education Student Teacher in California (Los Angeles Unified School District - 1987-88), Social Studies Teacher, Physical Education Teacher and Coach (El Dorado Union High School District, CA - 1988-96). He also taught and coached secondary students at Skyview High School in Nampa and served as Assistant Principal/Athletic Director at Skyview (1996-13).  In addition, Mr. McGee served as a Assistant Principal at Wood River High School in the Blaine County School District, Idaho (2013-15).

Mr. McGee is a compassionate and caring educator who brings a wealth of knowledge to his school leadership position. He is a respected educator who establishes effective relationships with students, staff, parents and school community members. Mr. McGee is dedicated to the District’s Strategic Plan vision of preparing each student for success beyond high school, whether that’s in college, career or in life.  

Mr. McGee earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science with a minor in Recreation Administration from San Jose State University, a Master of Education Degree from the University of California at Los Angeles and an Educational Leadership Endorsement from the University of Idaho.  

Monica Nydegger - Assistant Principal, Whitney Elementary School

Monica Nydegger has served Idaho’s public school students since 2002. During that time, she has worked as an Elementary School Teacher (Grades K & 5 - West Ada School District and Boise School District from 2002-06; Grade 4, Highlands Elementary, 2006-12; Grade 2, Horizon Elementary, 2012-15); and K-12 Integration Specialist, Professional Development Team 2015-18), and Assistant Principal, Grace Jordan & Riverside Elementary Schools (2018 to present).  

Mrs. Nydegger has significant experience serving on the Leadership Teams of the schools in which she has worked. She has served on numerous site-based and district level committees, which included curriculum writing and implementing SMART Goals - goals that are Strategic & Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Results-based and Timebound. In her time serving on the Professional Development Team as an Integration Specialist, she had the opportunity to support teachers in planning and implementing integrated instruction, as well as facilitating trainings to educators in support of the District’s Strategic Plan. In her current role, Mrs. Nydegger continues her commitment to support teachers, staff and our district's vision of preparing students for college, career and citizenship.

She is a collaborative instructional leader who realizes that when educators come together to share, problem solve, discuss and brainstorm in a Professional Learning Community, the students are the ultimate winner. Mrs. Nydegger is dedicated to creating a safe, positive and dynamic school culture for learning, providing leadership and direction, while turning challenges into opportunities.

Mrs. Nydegger earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from the University of Idaho and a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho.  
Jeff Lyle Roberts, Assistant Principal, Fairmont Junior High School
 
Jeff Roberts has served students in the Boise School District since 1993. During his public school career he has worked as an Assistant Principal (Boise High School, currently), Secondary School Social Studies Teacher (Les Bois Junior High School), Secondary Summer School Social Studies Teacher (Boise Summer School), Athletic Director (Les Bois Junior High School), Secondary Summer School Assistant Principal (Junior High Alternative Summer School) and Coach (Les Bois - Football, Basketball, Track). In addition, Mr. Roberts served in the U.S. Army and Idaho Army National Guard, deployed to Iraq and was the recipient of the Bronze Star Award for his military service.  

Mr. Roberts is a dedicated, loyal, resourceful education professional with proven abilities in management, teaching and administration of policies and practices that promote a safe learning environment and ensure a culture that encourages continuous improvement for teachers, coaches and students. He believes in open communication with colleagues, students, parents and the community and is committed to the District's Vision of preparing students for college, career and global citizenship.  

Mr. Roberts has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Social Science from Northwest Nazarene University, a Master of Arts Degree in Athletic Administration from Idaho State University and an Educational Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho.  
Cheryl Situm - Principal, Morley Nelson Elementary School

Cheryl Situm has served public school students for more than 22 years as Elementary School Teacher, Elementary Vice Principal, Elementary Principal, Middle School Vice Principal and High School Vice Principal.

Principal Situm has served as a Principal in both Danville and San Leandro, California for more than a decade, earning the California Distinguished and Gold Ribbon School Awards. Throughout her tenure, Principal Situm strives to build leadership capacity in others and herself. Equity and inclusion have been key focus areas throughout her career. She created a physical student data wall, which she presented at Stanford University to help close the racial achievement gap at her school in San Leandro, earning her a California State Senate Award. Most recently, Principal Situm developed Response to Intervention (RTI) resource materials, and Professional Learning Community (PLC) teams at each grade level to analyze data and create learning plans for students who struggle to meet proficiency standards.

Principal Situm is a passionate, committed and courageous educational leader. She is a collaborative problem-solver and consistently maintains a student-first focus as she supports students, parents and staff members. She is a well-respected educational leader who is a team-player and who enjoys working with others to share ideas and strategies. Principal Situm has a strong vision of preparing students for life beyond school whether that’s in college, career or in citizenship.  

Principal Situm earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Telecommunications and Film from California State University, Los Angeles; Teacher Education 
Erika Velasco - Assistant Principal, Morley Nelson Elementary School

Erika Velasco has served Idaho's public school students since 2000. During that time, she has worked as an Elementary School Teacher (1st Grade, Dual Language Program, Kuna School District, 2007-2011; 4th Grade, Dual Language Program, Kuna School District, 2011-2012) and School Administrator (Summer School Principal, Kuna School District, 2010-2014), Building Administrator (Reed Elementary School, Kuna School District, 2013-15), Title III and IC Coordinator at Kuna School District, Assistant Principal, Morley Nelson Elementary School, and Assistant Principal, Whitney and Whittier elementary schools (2015 to present). 

Ms. Velasco helped implement the Dual Language/Dual Immersion program in the Boise School District and the Kuna School District. She is well respected for her classroom instruction and management. Teachers respect and trust her as a resource and colleague. In addition, she establishes positive and effective relationships with parents and students. Her keen observation and people skills, along with her sense of community, serve her well in supporting students, parents, teachers and staff. 

Ms. Velasco earned her Bachelor Degree in Elementary Bilingual/EL from Boise State University and her Master Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho.
Chad Wright - Assistant Principal, Capital High School

Chad Wright has taught students as a public school educator in Idaho for 19 years. During that time, he has worked as a secondary Coach (Football, Volleyball, Track and Wrestling - Fairmont, Meridian High and Lowell Scott), Physical Education Teacher (Fairmont, Lowell Scott), Athletic Administrator (Fairmont) Principal (Boise District Summer School - Alternative Junior High School), Assistant Principal (Boise District Summer School Program - Alternative High School, Les Bois Jr. High School) and currently Assistant Principal, Fairmont Jr. High School. 
  
Mr. Wright is an enthusiastic supporter and leader of the District's Vision of preparing students for post-secondary success, whether it be in college, career or citizenship. He is well trained in a wide variety of District supported professional development initiatives that are leading to success and improvements in Boise's classrooms. He has served on the District's Curriculum Writing Committee for Physical Education and has been trained in AVID - a highly successful District program to prepare middle performing students for college and career success.
  
Mr. Wright believes each and every child can and will learn and he is committed to providing the finest educational program to each student. He is a knowledgeable, hard working and professional educator who is dedicated to academic rigor and high expectations for all students. Mr. Wright believes in establishing a positive school climate by developing open communication between students, parents and the entire school community.
  
Mr. Wright earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education from Boise State University and a Master of Arts Degree in Educational Leadership from Boise State University.
