Boise, ID -- 05/08/2020 -- Boise School District is pleased to announce the following principal appointments, effective the beginning of the 2020-21 school year.

Jolene Lincoln - Principal, Whitney Elementary School
Jolene Lincoln is a 21 year public school educator, having served in a variety of capacities during that time. She has worked as an elementary school principal (Hillcrest, 2015-present) assistant elementary school principal (Whittier, 2014-2015); Federal Programs Consulting Teacher (2010-2015); Summer School Administrator (Morley Nelson, 2014); 7th and 8th Grade ELL Teacher (Fairmont Junior High School/Boise Language Academy, 2006-10); Elementary ELL Teacher (Koelsch Elementary, 2002-06); 7th Grade Science Teacher (Spokane Public Schools, 2000-02); and Adjunct Professor (Northwest Nazarene University, 2004-2015).
Principal Lincoln is a compassionate, skilled and knowledgeable education professional who is focused on the District's Vision of preparing students for success beyond high school - in college, career and in citizenship. She is dedicated to providing each and every student with opportunities to succeed both in school and in life. She has experience serving schools with a diverse student population and believes in setting high expectations for each student.
Principal Lincoln earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education from Eastern Washington University, a Master of Education Degree Teaching English to Speakers of other Languages from Gonzaga University and a Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from the University of Idaho.

Amy Pinkerman - Principal, Special Programs (housed at Madison Early Childhood Center)
Amy Pinkerman has served as an educator in the Boise School District since 1997. During that time, she has worked as an elementary school teacher (Mtn. View, 1997-2010; Maple Grove, 2010-2011), elementary school assistant principal (Shadow Hills, 2011-2012; Morley Nelson, 2012-2013), summer school elementary school principal (Whittier, 2011; Lowell, 2012), principal (Taft Elementary School, 2013 to 2016) and she currently serves as Principal at Whitney Elementary School (2016 to present). In addition, she has effectively served as a school technology coordinator, PTO secretary and coached boys and girls 5th and 6th grade basketball.
Ms. Pinkerman has experience in providing rigorous and relevant educational opportunities for diverse student populations. She participated in the implementation of the K12 online instructional program using SMART Board Technology and the AVID program (college-prep program) at the elementary school level. She also has worked closely with student refugee populations and Extended Resource Room teachers for mainstreaming students into the regular education classroom.
Under her leadership, Ms. Pinkerman successfully implemented the Community Schools model at Whitney Elementary School. A community school is both a place and a set of partnerships between the school and other community resources. Its integrated focus on academics, health and social services, youth and community development and family engagement leads to improved student learning, stronger families and healthier communities.
She has distinguished herself as a professional administrator who is committed to establishing positive and effective relationships with students, parents and staff members. She is dedicated to the District’s Vision of preparing each student for success in college, career and citizenship. She has a thorough knowledge of assessment, curriculum and instruction and served as a strong instructional leader at Taft Elementary School and Whitney Elementary School.
Ms. Pinkerman earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree in French with a Teaching Certificate from Gonzaga University, a Master of Education Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Lesley University, and a Master of Educational Leadership Degree with an Administrative Endorsement from the University of Idaho.

Laura Rutherford, Principal, Hillcrest Elementary School
Laura Rutherford is a 16 year veteran of educating public school students. She currently serves as an assistant principal at Borah High School (2014-present). She has worked as a Secondary Social Studies Teacher (Liberty High School - Clark County School District, Nevada, 2004-2009 and Capital High School, Boise, 2009-2014), Summer School Secondary Social Studies Teacher (Frank Church High School, 2009-2011) and Assistant Summer School Principal (West Junior High School, 2012). In addition, she has served as Cheerleading Coach (Liberty High, Nevada, 2004-2009, and Capital High, Boise, 2009-2014). Principal Rutherford also served as Department Chair of the Social Studies Department and a member of the Advanced Education Accreditation Team at Capital High.
Principal Rutherford is a knowledgeable and dedicated education professional who is committed to the District's Vision of preparing each student to compete successfully in college, career and the worldwide economy. She establishes a school culture of success by working well with teachers, students, parents and the community.
As an assistant principal at Borah High School, she led the school’s accreditation process (2016), served as a member of Borah’s 504 Committee to serve students with special needs, served as the lead and coordinator of the school’s Problem Solving Team to assist students who may be struggling, organized the school’s annual registration, graduation, and Senator's Choice Awards Assembly and served as the WEB Scholar Chair - a prestigious award given to seniors who qualify by meeting a rigorous set of academic standards.
Principal Rutherford earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Political Science with a Secondary School Teaching Endorsement from the University of Idaho and a Master of Educational Leadership Degree with an Administrative Endorsement from the University of Nevada Las Vegas.
