Love the Bus Month Honors Bus Staff

As part of "Love the Bus Month," the Idaho Department of Education recently recognized two of our school bus drivers for ensuring the safety and security of our students! Rachel Suchan, driver, and โ€œBig-Daveโ€ Buckholz, bus assistant, were presented with the Love the Bus Award by the Idaho Department of Education. Watch the video below to learn more about how they went above and beyond to ensure the safety of a Boise School District student.


Thank you to each and every one of our incredible school bus drivers! We're so grateful for all of you and the care you take each day to ensure Boise Schools kids get to and from school safely. Thank you to our bus partner, Durham School Services for the excellence you provide in coordinating transportation for the children in our community!

Red & Golden Apple Award Recipients

Each month during the school year, the Boise School Board honors deserving teachers and support staff through the District's highest awards program - the Red Apple Award for teachers and the Golden Apple Award for classified employees. During the Board meeting held on February 12, 2024, Trustees recognized the following individuals.

Boise High's Avery Howell Honored

Boise School District and Boise High School are honored to celebrate Avery Howell as she received her McDonald's All American Games @mcdaag Jersey along with being celebrated by students, staff and the community.


Watch Howell compete on April 2nd on ESPN 2.


Howell was selected along with 24 players around the nation to compete in this prestigious game. She is the second player from the state of Idaho to be selected for this showcase.

Kindergarten Registration/Open House Day!

Today, February 29, 2024, is the day we welcome our class of 2037! It's Kindergarten Registration/Open House Day! Boise School District is currently accepting Kindergarten Registration for the 2024-2025 school year. We offer free, full-day kindergarten at all Boise School District elementary schools. You may register your Kindergarten student using our online Kindergarten Registration System. Be sure to attend our annual Kindergarten Registration Day/Open House at your neighborhood school on Thursday, February 29, 2024 from approximately 3:45 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

How to Talk to Your Child About Suicide

Parents, have you wondered how to talk to your child about suicide? Find ways to start this important conversation with your child of any age at our Mental Health Resources webpage, where you will also find helpful information about support and resources for all Boise Schools families.

Healthy Relationships - Family Night

Boise School District is partnering with the Women's and Children's Alliance to host a family night for high school students and their parents/guardians to talk about healthy relationships. February is Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month and this family night is a great way to learn about strategies to help your teen and help build healthy relationships. 


This event could also be beneficial for students entering high school next school year. Parents are welcome to attend without their teen.


Parents and teens will go to separate workshops that focus on the following:


  • Technology and relationships,
  • Setting healthy boundaries in dating relationships,
  • Tips on how to have conversations about healthy relationships with your teen, and more!

February is International Boost Self-Esteem Month

February is ๐‘ฐ๐’๐’•๐’†๐’“๐’๐’‚๐’•๐’Š๐’๐’๐’‚๐’ ๐‘ฉ๐’๐’๐’”๐’• ๐‘บ๐’†๐’๐’‡-๐‘ฌ๐’”๐’•๐’†๐’†๐’Ž ๐‘ด๐’๐’๐’•๐’‰!

According to a recent psychological research review, having high (vs. low) self-esteem has wide-ranging positive impacts, including better social relationships, more success at school and work, better mental and physical health, and less antisocial behavior. (Robins & Orth, 2022)

Dangers of Vaping: What Parents Need to Know in 2024

This school year, youth vaping is as big an issue as ever, especially given growing mental health challenges among youth. Behind the bright colors and sweet flavors of e-cigarettes are harmful chemicals and nicotine addiction. Join Parents Against Vaping to learn the essentials for helping kids avoid or quit vaping. Our virtual presentation Dangers of Vaping: What Parents Need to Know in 2024 will be held on Tuesday, March 12 at 6:00pm Eastern Time. At the end of this presentation, participants will be able to:


  • Understand and recognize tobacco industry tactics targeting youth
  • Explain the dangers of nicotine e-cigarettes/vapes, non-nicotine vapes, and other new tobacco products
  • Know the steps to protect youth and how to advise others to get involved
  • Take action in their own communities 


If you can't make it, don't worry! Parents Against Vaping will be offering this presentation throughout the rest of the year on May 12, September 10, and November 19.

Understanding Special Education

Please join us for our workshop that helps guide parents through the Special Education Process! This opportunity will be at Garfield Elementary School, 1914 S. Broadway Ave., Boise, ID 83706 on March 5th from 5:30-7pm. We will share helpful information for parents starting the Individualized Education Plan (IEP) process or have gone through it but want to review all of the different components. We will also discuss the role of the parent in this process and share resources. Dinner and childcare will be provided! Please register online.
