Virtual Learning Day on Tuesday, November 2, 2021
Tuesday, November 2, 2021 will serve as a virtual learning day for all Boise School District students. Students will not attend in-person school on Tuesday, November 2, 2021 due to a number of our schools being used as polling locations for the General Election. As you may know, the General Election draws a large number of patrons into our schools. Therefore, in order to keep our students and staff safe during the ongoing pandemic, we will implement virtual learning for all District students on Tuesday, November 2nd. If you have questions or concerns, please contact your student's teacher or school principal.
State Academic Award Championships
The Idaho High School Activities Association is pleased to announce the 2021 Fall Sports Academic State Champions, sponsored by the Idaho Army National Guard. This award is presented to the varsity team in each classification that achieves the highest cumulative grade point average. The IHSAA congratulates these student-athletes for their academic achievement and commitment to excellence through activities. Congratulations to the following three Boise School District high school athletic teams for being named 2021 Fall Sports Academic State Champions:

Capital Music Students Selected to Perform at State Music Conference
A number of Capital High School music groups have been selected to perform at the Fall 2021 Conference of the Idaho State Music Educators Association February 2-5, 2022 at Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, ID. They include:
Capital High School Chamber Orchestra
Capital High School Sophomore Orchestra
Capital High School Tenor Bass Ensemble
Timberline Marching Band Earns First Place
On Saturday, October 23, 2021 the Timberline High School Marching Band competed at the Treasure Valley Festival of Bands and received first place in the 5A Large division, the awards for best music, best marching, best percussion and best general effect, as well as the top score of all 16 competing bands from across southern Idaho! This is the 4th consecutive time that Timberline has placed first out of all competing bands at the Treasure Valley Festival.

In addition, on Saturday, October 2, 2021, the Timberline High Marching Band competed at the US Bands Kuna Invitational and received first place in their division, the awards for best music, best marching, best percussion and the top score of the 19 bands from across southern Idaho!

Student Athlete Receives National Recognition
Boise High School Senior basketball player, Ella Nelson, has been selected as a 2021 Triple-Impact Competitor Scholarship Winner from the Positive Coaching Alliance. Along with the accolade, Ella has won a $1,000 scholarship and is the only award recipient from the state of Idaho.  
Teacher Receives Idaho STEM Award
Dr. Kellie Taylor, Hawthorne Elementary School has been selected by the Idaho STEM Action Center to receive the 2021 Industry's Excellent Educators Dedication to STEM Award, or INDEEDS for short. This state award honors educators who champion science, technology, engineering and mathematics and provide invaluable career guidance.

Dr. Taylor, the winner in the kindergarten through sixth-grade
category, is a GATE (gifted and talented education) teacher working
with second- and third-grade students in the classroom at Hawthorne
Elementary School in Boise and with third- through sixth-graders in an
after-school robotics program. She has taught primary school and STEM education in the Treasure Valley since 2004, and recently served as an Albert Einstein Distinguished Educator Fellow conducting educational outreach for the Library of Congress.

COVID-19 Information & Resources
Boise School District is committed to our COVID-19 Response Plan to ensure we are able to continue to provide five-day-a-week in-person learning. Our COVID-19 Resources and Information website is regularly updated with important information, including a list of vaccine providers, required mitigation strategies, and positive and presumed positive case data.
