Celebrating the Start of the 2023-2024 School Year!
There's nothing like the first day of school to capture the excitement and promise of a new school year! Below are some photos taken during the first day of school on August 16, 2023. With the 2023-2024 school year now well underway, we want to take this opportunity to wish you a successful school year!
Ali Ward Selected for National Sustainability Fellowship
Alison Ward, Sustainability Supervisor for Boise School District, has been selected to receive a Leaders in Sustainability Fellowship for the 2023-2024 academic year from the Center for Green Schools

The Leaders in Sustainability Fellowship was designed to support K-12 district-level staff who are committed to leading change toward more sustainable, resource-efficient and healthy school systems. The fellowship offers professional development opportunities, training, coaching, and collaboration opportunities.

Ali was selected through a competitive application process. As part of the fellowship, she will take part in collaborative training with other sustainability champions across the country and will receive complimentary registration, lodging and travel to the Green Schools Conference and Expo and School Sustainability Leaders’ Summit in March of 2024. This is Ali’s 18th year with Boise Schools and her 22nd year as an educator.

The Center for Green Schools defines sustainability through three pillars: environmental impact, health impact, and environmental literacy. One of the Center’s core beliefs is that green schools prepare students to lead the world toward a healthier, cleaner, more sustainable future.

Congratulations, Ali! We are grateful for all you do to help create a more sustainable future for Boise School District.
