Boise, ID -- (April 21, 2025) -- Boise School District is proud to once again offer free summer meals to children and teens through the federally-funded Summer Food Service Program. This essential service ensures that all children ages 1 through 18 can access nutritious meals during the summer months—regardless of family income or school enrollment status.
Starting June 3rd through August 8th, breakfast and lunch will be served at a variety of school and park sites across the Boise area. Depending on the location, meal service times and dates will vary.
The program gives kids the nutrition they need during the summer—when school meals aren’t available—so they can stay healthy, engaged, and reach their full potential.
This program is about more than just meals—it reflects our district’s ongoing commitment to support the whole child and provide for the broader needs of our community. Every meal served helps ensure that Boise’s children return to school healthy, focused, and ready to learn.
“Our schools are more than just places of learning,” said Lisa Roberts, Superintendent of the Boise School District. “They are trusted community centers where children and families find support. Federal programs like this demonstrate the heart of what public education can offer—opportunity, access, and care for every child.”
Boise School District has proudly operated summer meal sites for decades, serving thousands of meals each summer. Whether or not families are enrolled in our schools, all are welcome to participate.
We encourage our neighbors, local organizations, and community leaders to share this information widely. Together, we can help make sure no child in Boise goes hungry this summer.
