Husband, wife rabbi team joins B’nai Jeshurun clergy


In 2017, while attending the Ziegler School of Rabbinic Studies in Los Angeles, Rabbi Joshua Jacobs and Rabbi Alex Rosenbaum met at orientation and were officially dating by the first day of classes. Following one year of marriage on July 10, the couple embarked on their next journey, joining the clergy of B’nai Jeshurun Congregation in Pepper Pike.

Progressive Insurance consolidation plans include Mayfield headquarters


Progressive Insurance’s plan to consolidate its headquarters in Mayfield Village was term as “neutral” to Mayfield Village, Mayor Brenda Bodnar told Cleveland Jewish News July 31. “They’re still remaining in Mayfield Village,” Bodnar said. “The amount of people coming to work every day in Mayfield Village will remain the same.”

Park Synagogue in Pepper Pike and Cory United Methodist Church in Cleveland held their joint Jammin’ in July event July 9 in the synagogue’s community hall. Attendees participated in a Motown trivia contest, with teams consisting of both Cory and Park congregants at each table.

Lawyers deliver final arguments in synagogue shooting trial



A federal court jury on Monday again heard nearly five-year-old 911 calls recording the screams, the gunshots and the terror from the Pittsburgh synagogue attack as the U.S. attorney asked jurors to deliver the ultimate penalty for the shooter: death. Eric Olshan, the top prosecutor in Western Pennsylvania, said 22 people were inside the building on Oct. 27, 2018, when Robert Bowers stormed in with an AR-15 and a heart filled with hate. Half of those people, he said, never left.

Suspect in custody after man fires shots near Memphis Jewish school


A Jewish day school in Memphis, Tenn., went into lockdown for about 45 minutes on Monday afternoon after a man fired several shots nearby. No injuries were reported at the Margolin Hebrew Academy/Feinstone Yeshiva of the South.

Netanyahu: ‘There won’t be a civil war’ over judicial reform



Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu assured NBC News on Monday that wherever the debate in Israel over his government’s judicial reform effort leads, it won’t be to violence. “There won’t be civil war. I guarantee you that,” the premier told the U.S. network’s foreign correspondent Rafael Sanchez in his office in Jerusalem.
