BOLIVIA CLINIC BLESSINGS - CHILD IN NEED

Dr. Dersch with Fanny after Surgery

ORH evangelistic medical clinics are held for one week and staffed by volunteer doctors, dentists, optometrists, pharmacists, nurses, surgeons, EMTs, paramedics, and all other medical professionals.

The teams are also composed of

non-medical volunteers. The non-medical staff are assigned to work with registration, crowd control, vitals, as assistants in other areas, crowd care, and, many times, physical setup of the clinic. Without non-medical staff, a clinic cannot function.

Daniel Jones, PA, is director of Operation Renewed Hope and has sent a wonderful report from Bolivia.

Please take time to read his update of God's blessings.

"Our July 2025 ORH medical team of 56 volunteers served in Riberalta, Bolivia with Missionary Keneth Ellzey.

During our Tuesday clinic morning, we were made aware of a special need. Fanny Bany Ordonez, a six-year-old girl, was part of a motorcycle wreck the day before.  Because of the accident, Fanny suffered a displaced femur fracture.

Fanny's grandmother was saved at an ORH medical clinic in Riberalta two years before, and the family became faithful members of the Iglesia Bautista Fe Vive in Riberalta.

Fanny was kept in the ER, and the hospital informe her family that they must pay before the treatment could move forward.  Fanny's family did not have the money at the time for the treatment to move forward.  In order to help, ORH sent lead physician, Dr. Stephen Dersch, to assess the patient.  He agreed that she needed a surgical procedure to repair the fracture.

The cost for the surgical repair was $500.  ORH entered into an agreement with Fanny’s family to pay the $500.  Fanny received her life-changing surgery on Thursday morning. After the surgery, Fanny was recovering and doing well.

The ORH team did a great job during the clinic week! Many people were helped, and all heard the Gospel. Many truly cried out to the Lord for salvation from their sins."

Through volunteers, financial gifts, and prayers these temporary evangelistic clinics give great hope to those who receive medical care and the Gospel. ORH is thankful for those who make this possible.

If you would like to participate, please go to our website and complete an application for the trip of your choice. Below is the picture of the entire team.

PERU MEDICAL TEAM

Peru Team

ORH traveled to Puerto Maldonado in May with a medical team composed of team members from the US, Mexico, Bolivia, and Peru. The clinic was held in the Toledo community, an area where an ORH team worked three years ago.

This community was literally carved out of the jungle and populated by migrant workers. A church has been established, the result of the last medical team's efforts.

In addition to working in Toledo, the team boarded long canoes on the Madre de Dios to hold clinics in two different villages off the river with the Yine people group. We also had a clinic day in Puerto Maldonado at Grace Baptist Church which was the work of Buddy Fitzgerald our host.

Over 832 patients were cared for, and everyone heard a clear presentation of the Gospel. The clinic preaching resulted in dozens of professions of faith.

2025 BOOT CAMP

Vital Sign Training

ORH held its annual Medical Mission Boot Camp on June 2-7 in Robbins, NC.  The camp was conducted with 12 ORH staff members and several volunteers which included pastors, medical professionals, and missionaries. They helped with the food preparation, logistics, instruction, and training.

Nineteen young people from all over the US attended the Boot Camp.  The young people were presented with various challenges and received instruction and training in medical care, dental care, and eye care. Included was training in critical thinking and planning as well as survival training. They learned many valuable principles helpful for mission work, especially medical missions and ORH medical clinics.

In order to travel on an ORH medical clinic young people ages 14 through 17 must successfully complete a boot camp. After doing so, the young person may travel without a parent.

All campers completed the camp successfully in 2025, and many of them are scheduled to travel with ORH on an upcoming medical team.
