Director’s Note

Dear Senior Center Friends,

Earlier this week someone told me that they are still getting used to “the new normal.” A lot has shifted in our world the past 15 months. Whether we like it or not, we have gotten used to a new way of doing things. Now that CT is in a lot better condition overall, it can be hard to define and balance your own comfort level, your desire to be courteous to others, and the need to respect the ever shifting rules and regulations. I see that struggle in all of you and I know a lot of times it can be frustrating. We hear your impatience and we understand your strong desire to “get back to normal.” But as we said, this is still a “new normal.”

While it is not the $64,000 question, the HOT topic around here is “when are you reopening.” We are aiming for the middle to end of July. We are working out all of the final details and we will be making a much more specific announcement in the coming weeks. And yes, there will be a balance of comfort level, courtesy and of course, some rules.

I can tell you that we are thrilled for our community to blossom again. In this new normal, we have taken the time to improve on our operations in many ways big and small and can’t wait to tell you more about it. But until then, keep calling, emailing, ringing the doorbell and we’ll count down the days to our reunion together.

Stay Safe,
Carrie

Call for Applications for Grant Funds

The following is a message from the Bolton Greater Together Community Fund Advisory Board.

Bolton Greater Together Community Fund Issues Open Call to Apply for Grant Funds.

In 2019, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving established $100,000 community funds for each of the 29 towns in the Foundations region, which includes the town of Bolton. The purpose of the community funds is to support residents in taking ownership around the needs in their towns, encourage broad and inclusive civic engagement and anchor the Hartford Foundation in each town. In 2020, Bolton’s Greater Together Community Fund Advisory Committee was selected. The list of current members is available at www.hfpg.org/boltoncf.

Bolton’s Greater Together Community Fund Advisory Committee has released its first open call for project proposals. Up to $5000 will be awarded in grant funds to one or more proposals. All projects must benefit the residents of Bolton. For further details on project guidelines and how to apply, please visit www.hfpg.org/boltonct. Project applications or grant proposals will be accepted until September 1, 2021.

The community funds program also creates an opportunity for organizations and individuals to make tax-deductible contributions to any of the 29 Community Funds to support their towns. There have been a number of contributions to other Greater Together Community Funds and all donations are welcome both large and small.

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving is the community foundation for Hartford and 29 surrounding communities. Made possible by the gifts of generous individuals, families and organizations, the Foundation has awarded grants of more than $849 million since its founding in 1925. For more information about the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, visit https://www.hfpg.org or call 860-548-1888.
