Dear Bolts Nation:

I hope you are all doing well. We want to keep you updated on a few things. Everyone in the club was sent an email with a letter outlining credits towards next year for the missed spring activities. We offered each player their same roster spot, we froze tuition at this year's pricing, added Sports Refund Insurance for every player next year and removed the fundraising requirement, among other things. If you didn't receive it or have any questions about it, please reach out to your coach or club staff anytime.

It looks like (fingers crossed) we will be able to provide a soccer program this June/July. We will begin with caution and have a phased approach. We are working with facilities and health officials on the safety protocols and guidelines that our coaches, staff, players & families will need to follow. All of this is based on health guidelines and will be communicated to families ahead of any training.

As we being the process of re-opening, there are some staffing changes taking place.
Andy Mason will take on the role of managing the Bolts North Region. Marco Koolman said, "Andy has set the tone in establishing our Future Elite Programs (FEP) and has a network with key people in the North region. I trust that Andy will establish the North starting at the grassroots level."

Also from Coach Koolman , "I want to inform you that Davor Dvanajscak will be stepping down as the Regional Director for the Boston region and as the 2009 Boston to pursue new opportunities. During his time with the Boston Bolts Davor re-established the region and introduced the new version of the Junior Academy program, currently the Future Elite Program. I want to thank Davor for all his time and energy he poured into the club and wish him the best of luck with his new endeavors."

With this announcement comes a few staffing changes in the Boston Region. Sebastian DiTommaso will take over the 2009 Boston Region team. Sebastian brings over 15 years of experience coaching club soccer ages 10 to 18 to this role.
Boston Region families can reach out to Steven Conway with any questions and we will provide more information about staffing in this region early next week.

Enjoy your weekend! Please send us any questions.

Bolts Hire Vasily Yakimkin as Goalkeeper Coordinator

In case you missed it...The Boston Bolts are thrilled to announce our latest Bolts hire,  Vasily Yakimkin , as Goalkeeper Coordinator for the club – in charge of coordinating and implementing the goalkeeper curriculum for every region and educating goalkeeper staff coaches.

Editor Note: Apologies to Vasily for my error in the email subject line for the announcement this week. He deserves better!

Yakimkin holds NSCAA National Goalkeeper Coaching License and is currently working towards the USC Advanced National Goalkeeping diploma.

Marco Koolman , Bolts Executive Technical Director and Director of Coaching says, “I am impressed with Vasily’s level of professionalism and knowledge of the game. Quality goalkeeper coaches are hard to come by which makes this hire even greater. His passion for the game, his knowledge and energy are what we have been looking for in our goalkeeper coach. The main objective to grow and continue to develop top level goalkeepers.”

Bolts Columbus Cup
SAVE THE DATES October 10th & 11th 2020

We will be hosting the 3rd annual Bolts Columbus Cup this October!!
Registration will be available shortly, but a few of the highlights for this year's event will be:
  • Games on Saturday and Sunday only. No games on the Monday holiday.
  • We have secured all turf fields at Union Point, Lovell Field and Legion Field in Weymouth. If we need to expand this we will expand to only fields on the South Shore so that families and coaches with multiple teams can easily get from field to field.
  • All games on turf including two fields under the bubble at Union Point. The bubbles will not be coming down this year due to the COVID crisis and the cost associated with taking the bubble down. This will provide shelter in the case of poor weather for all players and families.
  • All teams U11-15 guaranteed three games plus playoffs.
  • All U9/10 teams guaranteed four games with no playoffs.
  • No more than 2 hours between the end of game 1 and beginning of game 2.
  • Tournament Apparel Available through Fine Designs at all locations (see event logo above).
  • Food services available at Lovell Field, and new this year at Union Point provided by the Barrett Restaurant Group.

Can't wait to see you there!
Sad News
One of our Bolts ECNL families suffered a tremendous loss last week. In this difficult time, the team set up a GoFundMe page . Please donate if you can.

Sadly, Sven(13) and Sara(11)’s mom, Aida, passed away unexpectedly Saturday, May 27th. Everyone that knew Aida’s true heart loved her. She was the most giving person, especially to her two kids Sven, Sara, and her husband, Dado. Aida had several family members and close friends that she loved dearly. There was never a child she did not love. She will be sorely missed.

Her loss of life at such an early age was an unforeseen tragedy. In hopes of helping her children, we are asking for any donation no matter how small. The funds will be spent on her children for items like new room furnishing, new school clothes, and other life expenses hoping to bring them a level of comfort for their great loss of their mama.

Her children Sven and Sara and her husband Dado loved her deeply and she loved them with her entire being. Any donation is helpful. No amount is too small. Hopefully, we can help lift the spirits and help console this beautiful family in weeks and months to come.

Thank you so much for your support and generosity!

Chat with the Pros series continues....

We had a fantastic chat last week with Tommy Smyth (right) and he shared his experiences and told us some fantastic stories!

This week, we focus on Goalkeepers. We will have a chat with Shane Supple
Ipswich Town First Team Goalkeeper + National Team Squad in 2018 v USA + France.

Shane Supple grew up playing soccer with dreams of playing in England. These dreams came through as he was offered a contract with Ipswich Town at 16. In his second season, with Shane between the posts, Ipswich's Academy team won the prestigious FA Youth Cup. This is the biggest Trophy in Youth Football in England and was a real coup for Shane and the club. Following his performances, he was offered a 5 year professional contract, propelling Shane to the first team . An injury to first choice goalkeeper, Lewis Price (Bought from Arsenal), Shane made his debut for the first team at the young age of 18. Such was his performances, he kept the GK spot for the remainder of the season, attracting lots of attention from Premier League Clubs. Shane retired from football at a young age but made a comeback in 2016 professionally. Such were his performances, Shane was called into the National Senior Team for games against USA + France in 2018.

Shane is going to be sharing his experience of playing first team football at 18 years of age, having Roy Keane as his manager and talking about his experiences as a young Academy player as well as giving our goalkeepers and aspiring young academy players some great advice and tips that may help them on their journey. Shane will also be answering any questions our goalkeepers and players from our club.
