INCubatoredu - Pitch Night

Congratulations!

First Place Winners: "Neats"

This year, the INCubator Pitch Night took place on Monday, December 9, 2025. Pitch Night highlights students from the entrepreneurship business class, known as INCubator at Kenston High School. This event was the culmination of the 18 week course, where student groups were hard at work learning important business skills and entrepreneurship strategies. Groups worked closely with business professionals and/or mentors throughout the start-up process to help advise and guide them through product design and development. Pitch night allows the small businesses to propose their product or idea to a panel of judges who listen and question each group after they make their pitch. Each of the nine groups were certainly impressive in their preparation for this night and had excellent pitch presentations.

MOCK TRIAL TEAM

Kenston’s Mock Trial Team will be competing at Districts on Friday, January 17, in Painesville. Good luck to team members Brooklyn Alexander, Reagan Carnes, Grace Gettig, Thomas Hart, Maren Hill, Pearl Johnson, Zoe LeFeber, Zoey Murtha, Gabriella Quintana, Rhys Serquina, Maria Shindika, Charlotte Syslo, Joseph Triscaro, William Turner, Grace Voudris, and Brian Worsdall. 

SPEECH & DEBATE TEAM

Congratulations

The Kenston High School Speech and Debate Team hosted the 3rd Annual Fred Snook Memorial Speech and Debate Tournament at the beginning of Winter Break. Will Radefeld placed fourth in Declamation. Placing sixth were Zoe LeFeber in Original Oratory and Alessia Cassina in Dramatic Interpretation. In the Middle School Division, Juliana Shumaker placed first, and Evie Bohac placed third in Interpretation. 


At the Laurel School tournament, the team placed fourth. Placing individually were Jake Spencer, who came in first place in Humorous Interpretation; Alessia Cassina, who came in second place; Maddie Foerster, who came in fourth place in Dramatic Interpretation; and Zoe LeFeber, who came in seventh place in Original Oratory. In the Middle School Division, Evie Bohac placed second in Interpretation.


The team is competing in weekly tournaments to prepare for Districts at the beginning of February.

Payments and more

Eighth-grade parents:

You should have received email updates from Mrs. Sedmak regarding the Washington, D.C., field trip that will take place May 13 -16, 2025. If you have not received emails, please contact Mrs. Sedmak (angela.sedmak@kenstonapps.org) or Mr. Fromwiller (jeff.fromwiller@kenstonapps.org) as soon as possible to ensure that we have your most current email address.


Payment schedule:

The next payment of $212 is due January 17, and the final payment of $212 is due February 28. You can view all of the payments you have made on the parent portal of Infinite Campus under "fees." Be sure to set the filter to include all payments so that you can view them. Please contact Mrs. Sedmak and Mr. Fromwiller with any questions. If you missed the first payment and your student is interested in attending the D.C. trip, please contact us, and we will make sure to add your student to the trip and get it taken care of.


To make a payment online through Infinite Campus:

  • Log in through the parent portal
  • Choose "school store"
  • Choose KHS
  • Find the appropriate payment option and add it to your cart


Infinite Campus will automatically email you a receipt for your payment - please save the receipt for your records.

SENIOR COMMUNITY PROJECT

Donations needed


Do you have any glasses or hearing aids you don’t need anymore? Please drop them off in the boxes in the High School’s main office. Senior, Mia Strong is collecting glasses and hearing aids for a community service project. The donated glasses and hearing aids will be sent to a medical clinic in Izabal, Guatemala, to help children and adults who struggle with vision and hearing. Thank you in advance for your support!

LEAF

Lake / Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation

Kenston High School (KHS) partners with the Lake/Geauga Educational Assistance Foundation (LEAF) to assist students and families through the college application and financial aid process. Do you need help with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)? 


The 2025-2026 FAFSA is now open for students entering college in fall 2025. Deadlines for filing the FAFSA vary by institution. 


Sign up here for a forty-five minute time slot to meet with the Kenston High School LEAF advisor, Mrs. Moll, to complete your FAFSA. 


If you can't make it during these times but have financial aid questions, please contact Mrs. Heather Moll at hmoll@leaf-ohio.org to set up an in person or virtual appointment.  


To prepare for your appointment:

  1. Sign up for a forty-five minute time slot;
  2. Please complete your FSA ID for both yourself and your parent/guardian at least 48 hours prior to your appointment (it is a two day turnaround time); and
  3. Bring all applicable documents identified on this sign up website linked above.

KENSTON ATHLETICS BOOSTERS

Serving our Student Athletes

Kenston Athletic Boosters (KAB) would like to thank Tom Manning, Kenston Wrestling Program, Kenston High School Administration, and Kenston Athletic Department for another successful Kenston Invitational Wrestling Tournament over the holiday break.



We estimate that we assisted in servicing approximately 400 paid attendees, approximately 320 wrestlers, and approximately 210 fed volunteers over the 2-day event! KAB will give back around $4500 to KHS teams that helped during the event!

DID YOU KNOW?

The KAB 2024/2025 Winter Sports Program is available to purchase – your KAB parent rep will have copies at your events to purchase or stop by the concession stand to buy!


This program features our sports team for each season, special ads for our senior athletes from their families and local business advertisements. We could not pull off this program without the support of these local businesses – thank you to them all!

Musical Arts Association of Kenston (MAAK)


MAAK is the parent booster group for the KHS band, choir, and Bomberettes program (grades 8-12). If your student participates in one of these programs, you are a MAAK member!
