Here we are in paradise with growth and abundance all around us.  We have multiple fine colleges, training centers and universities producing highly qualified graduates whose intellectual talents we'd like to retain for our workforce; but with no frequent and dependable way to get students and workers to and from school, jobs, or internships, we have an insurmountable problem. Is it feasible for this current condition to continue?  We are watching development spread with speed and an intensity not seen here since the early 2000's.  I cannot help but wonder how front line workers are going to get to work each day.  READ MORE

ESTERO AREA THE TOP SUBURBAN OFFICE MARKET IN EASTERN UNITED STATES 


The Estero area is the No. 1 suburban office market in the East, according to a report released by corporate relocation consultant The Boyd Co.  Boyd also named Estero as the suburban market with the lowest operating costs nationally for a corporate headquarters. BSEEDC ACCEPTING NOMINATIONS FOR BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Nominations are being accepted for the Bonita Springs Estero Economic Development Council Board of Directors. You may either self-nominate or select someone from your organization.  This opportunity is only open to BSEEDC investors.  Terms are three years and include monthly board meetings. PROPOSED CHANGES TO THE FEDERAL OVERTIME RULE
The existing overtime rule states that workers are entitled to overtime compensation if they make up to $23,660 annually or $455 a week. The administration is proposing to more than double this entitlement threshold allowing workers who make up to $50,440 annually or $970 a week to qualify for overtime compensation. The deadline for the proposed plan to change the existing federal overtime rule is September 4th. CLICK HERE to learn more about the proposal and how it could affect you and your business.

REPORT ON THE DOWNTOWN BONITA SPRINGS RETAIL MARKET

The City of Bonita Springs recently commissioned Mr. Robert J. Gibbs, President of the Gibbs Planning Group, to conduct a retail market study of the downtown area, set to undergo a transformation in the next few years. Mr. Gibbs will speak about his findings on  Monday, August 24th at 5:30 p.m. at the Bonita Springs Fire and Rescue District Headquarters. CLICK HERE for more details.

JULY SOUTHWEST FLORIDA REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATOR REPORT

HIGHLIGHTS: The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate for the five-county region dropped to 5.2 percent in June 2015 from 6.1 percent a year earlier.
