Over the past two weeks, three top state officials have visited Southwest Florida to see firsthand the growth we're experiencing and also address the growing pains that go along with it. With each of these visits, I was reminded of the positive impact Southwest Florida business is making on the state's recovery number and that our issues are top of mind for the administration. FLORIDA RANKED FIFTH IN 2015 STATE BUSINESS TAX CLIMATE INDEX

Florida has received a fifth place ranking for "Best Business Tax Climate" by The Tax Foundation. The State Business Tax Climate Index enables business leaders, government policymakers, and taxpayers to gauge how their states' tax systems compare. READ MORE

LEE MEMORIAL REVEALS PLANS FOR ESTERO CAMPUS

Lee Memorial Health System plans to develop an outpatient services center on 31 acres it owns near Coconut Point mall in Estero . Suzanne Bradach, special projects director for LMHS, gave a presentation at the July Bonita Springs Estero Economic Development Council Board Meeting. READ MORE

JUNE SOUTHWEST FLORIDA REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATOR REPORT

HIGHLIGHTS: The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate for the five-county region dropped to 5.6 percent in May 2015 from 6.4 percent a year earlier.
