Some are looking for land and others are seeking move-in ready office space, which most of hte time turns out to be class A or B. Gary Mart of Global Tech LED has been selected as the 2015 Distinguished Entrepreneur Award winner. The Florida Small Business Development Center at Florida Gulf Coast University presented the honor to Mart during an annual dinner ceremony held on May 19. The award recognizes a small- to mid-sized Southwest Florida business for its overall success and provides an opportunity for the local business community to celebrate its achievements.

We were happy to celebrate with American House Senior Living Communities for the Grand Opening Ceremony of its first senior living community in Southwest Florida: American House Bonita Springs. APRIL SOUTHWEST FLORIDA REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATOR REPORT

HIGHLIGHTS: Decrease in the unemployment rate for our five-county region of 1.06 percentage points from March 2014 to March 2015. Bonita Springs Area Chamber Signs Coalition Supporting S. 280 Federal Permitting Improvement Act

The Bonita Springs Area Chamber of Commerce recently signed a coalition supporting S. 280 Federal Permitting Improvement Act. This critical piece of legislation would provide a streamlined process for developers to obtain environmental permits and approvals for their projects in a timely and efficient manner, allowing jobs to be created and the economy to grow. FLORIDA IS THE 7TH LARGEST EXPORTER OF STATE-ORIGIN PRODUCTS

As the seventh largest exporter of state-origin products, Florida-origin exports total more than $58.6 billion and exports from Florida supported 275,221 U.S. jobs in 2013.

STATEWIDE LEGISLATION CHANGES

Governor Scott signed a total of 27 bills on May 14th, including one allowing the sale of 64-ounce growlers. This legislation ended a long war between craft brewers and big beverage distributors over regulation of beer sales, in which the growler became a pawn. READ MORE

RSW AIRPORT PASSENGER TRAFFIC UP 5.2%

During April, 902,669 passengers traveled through Southwest Florida International Airport, an increase of 4.3 percent compared to April 2014. Year-to-date, passenger traffic is up 5.2 percent from the same period last year.  The traffic leader in April was Southwest with 195,489 passengers traveling to and from Fort Myers. Rounding out the top five airlines were Delta (193,248), JetBlue (108,719), US Airways (102,581) and United (87,047). Southwest Florida International Airport had 8,255 aircraft movements (takeoffs and landings), an increase of 2.6 percent compared to April 2014.  It also served more than 7.9 million passengers in 2014 and is one of the top 50 airports for passenger traffic.  CLICK HERE  for more information.
