Q3 Recap: Looking back, moving forward

My good friend, and very talented photographer, DJ Connor, fulfilled my need for updated dance photos!

Find all my favorites in my most recent blog post:

It's Virgo Szn 2024

"I keep looking at these images and thanking myself for continuing to do what I have always loved to do. I’m proud of the dancer I’ve become, as reflected in these photos, and I’m especially proud of the meticulous, conscientious and curious Virgo moments that have led me to become Director of avec Productions. If you need me, I’ll be filling out the yearly, monthly, weekly and daily tasks and to-dos in my planner. Until next time, au revoir!"

"One of my BIGGEST accomplishments this year was getting updated full-body dance shots taken. And when I set out to achieve this goal, I knew just the guy I wanted to shoot with:

Charleston, SC-based photographer, DJ Connor."

"Returning to the Holy City and shooting with DJ (+ the bonus of having my Shalom moment!) was the

culmination of many prior Virgo seasons.

The experience made me extremely thankful for all the to-do lists, full of ridiculously high standards set for myself and my MASSIVE goals (some achieved, others not) and motivated me to keep going."

Coming Up:(tomorrow!)

Join me in welcoming Daisy and Emma, guest artists in avec's first Open Rehearsal event.

The featured work will be the first full-length choreographic creation in avec's repertoire, a Contemporary Ballet piece set to the upbeat Scaramouche, Suite for 2 Pianos (listen below!).

This Open Rehearsal event will be offered in a hybrid capacity.

You're invited to join in Studio V at Gibney Studios (280 Broadway) in Manhattan OR virtually on Zoom at the link below.

This event is free, but a $5 suggested donation will be used to fund studio bookings and performers' compensation.

Sneak peek! Ep. 3 of

Un-PACKD:

Performing Arts Careers, Knowledge and Discussions

On the third episode of Un-PACKD: the interview series where I invite guests to share about Performing Arts Careers, Knowledge and Discussions, I sat down with the FABULOUS Karma Stylz.

He's my Vogue teacher, he's a Pose FX choreographer, he's a former Harlem Globe Trotter ~ but most importantly ~ he's one of the most authentic artists I know.

Become a member on Patreon for $3/month to watch the whole episode.

Preview of ep. 3 of Un-PACKD with Karma Stylz.

“Who am I? What is the music telling me to do?”

“There’s no rule book for this thing we call dance and art.”

“You should be able to come into the room and just pose and grab everybody’s attention…I want to be like Michael Jackson or Beyonce. They come on stage and hit one pose and people are fainting...what is that? What is that energy?”

“That’s what vogueing was always about for me…helping me to find the voice that I didn’t have.”

Thank you for being here!

avec hopes to respond to the need for more ways for independent artists and audience members to forge deeper connections with each other.

avec envisions crowded dance floors full of professional dance artists grooving alongside, next to and with audience members. Specifically, audience members who are usually poised in their theater seats, invisible behind the veil of blackness a dancer sees when they look out into the house from the stage.

avec's events ask the question, "am I viewing dance or and I doing dance?" with the hope that you answer, "both!"

Coming up next year...

From The (Roof) Top!, a gala-esque experience with skyline views asks everyone in attendance - professional dancers performing avec's choreography AND audience members - to share space to groove, move and celebrate the experience of dancing with one another.

I'm fortunate to have you here with me on this journey and deeply appreciate your support. Find out more on avecproductions.org
