We remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives lost, the families and loved ones left behind, and the countless first responders, firefighters, law enforcement officers, military members, and ordinary citizens who demonstrated extraordinary courage and compassion.
We remember the heroism, sacrifice, unity, and resilience that emerged during one of our nation's darkest days.
May we never forget those we lost, those who served, and the lasting impact of that day.

The Salvation Army serves many people every year by providing services for others as they "Do the Most Good." Over the past year, the Salvation Army of Huntingdon County has provided vital services for the people in Huntingdon County which include the following: Provided food to 5,252 people through multiple food distributions; provided Emergency Aid Assistance for 226 families in the amount of $28,350; provided shelter for twenty-two people for a total of 47 nights. Other projects include 136 Back to School backpacks for area students and 3,400 Christmas toys given to families through Project Angel Tree.
The Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary works to support the Salvation Army's mission by raising funds to supplement Salvation Army programs. Last year, the Auxiliary raised funds to aid the youth program and summer camp, the backpack/school supplies program, the Shirley Home for the Aged outreach, Angel Tree, and Huntingdon House. In addition, they were able to present a check for $6,500 to the Salvation Army to aid in the purchase of food for seniors.
This year the Auxiliary plans to hold a silent auction to support the Salvation Army programs and services. The event will take place on Thursday, October 15th at the Huntingdon County Career and Technology Center. Tickets are $15 each and available at the Chamber office (500 Allegheny Street, Huntingdon) for purchase.

The Huntingdon Chamber is once again partnering with the Huntingdon County Planning Commission to recognize the people, businesses, organizations, and projects making a positive impact throughout Huntingdon County.
Projects completed during 2026 are eligible for consideration in this year’s Community Improvement Awards, which will be presented during the Planning Commission’s Annual Dinner on February 25, 2027.
Awards will be presented in four categories:
- New Construction
- Preservation: Historic & Reuse of an Existing Building or Lot
- Community Spirit
- Special Merit
Do you know of a project that deserves recognition? Nominate it! Whether it transformed a space, preserved an important part of our community, brought people together, or went above and beyond, we want to hear about it.
Nominations are due by December 4, 2026, at 4:00 p.m.
