Discover the Wild within Harrison Hall
Did you know that Harrison Hall is home to more than 150 different animal species?
Our diverse living collection includes over 300 individual animals, and that doesn’t even include our 39 group colonies of invertebrates and small fish that are simply too numerous to count individually!
A walk through Harrison Hall is also a journey through some of the incredible habitats found on our planet. Along the way, you’ll encounter animals representing brackish estuaries, freshwater ecosystems, coral reefs, shallow ocean waters, deserts, and tropical, temperate, and pine forests. From forest floors to ocean reefs, each habitat offers a glimpse into the different ways animals are adapted to the environments they call home.
And there’s a lot more living in these habitats than you might notice at first glance!
Our Coral Reef display alone is home to an incredible 60 different species. Look closely and you’ll discover colorful fish, fascinating invertebrates, and other reef inhabitants sharing this bustling underwater community.
With so much life packed into Harrison Hall, it’s nearly impossible to notice everything in just one visit. Some animals are colorful and easy to spot, while others might be hiding, camouflaged, or tucked into an unexpected corner.
How many species can you spot?
The next time you visit Harrison Hall, slow down and take a closer look. See how many different animals—and habitats—you can discover. You might be surprised by just how much life is all around you!
