IT'S A BOO-TIFUL DAY


 It's Halloween, and that means the ghosts and goblins will be out and about.

 

Here is your last-minute guide to trick or treating in Tifton:

 

Downtown Trick-or-Treating on Main Street is from 5-6 p.m. with participating merchants.

 

√ The annual "Halloween Stroll" is at the Tifton Mall from 5-7 p.m.

√ A Fall Family Festival is begin held at Tifton's First Assembly of God Church on Central Ave. from 5-8 p.m.

"Fall with The Avenue" sponsored by Tift Avenue Church of God is at the YMCA's Hunt Park on Carpenter Road from 6-8 p.m.

Trunk-or-Treat at St. Anne's Episcopal Church is from 6-8 p.m.

The Haunted Theatre: "Return to the Madness" at the Tift Theatre for the Performing Arts runs from 6:30-midnight.

READING IS A BIG DEAL AT LEN LASTINGER PRIMARY

TIFTON GETS STATE PARKING GRANT

The City of Tifton recently received a Redevelopment Fund Grant for $376,887 from the Ga. Department of Community Affairs (DCA). The funds are being used for a new parking area in Downtown Tifton on Commerce Way.

CHAMBER NAMES SMALL BUSINESS OF MONTH

For the month of September, the Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce recently honored The Howard Center for Women's Health as one of its Small Businesses of the Month. American Legion Post 21 Coastal Plains Regional Fair

Officials at the American Legion Post 21 Fairgrounds welcomes ambassadors and staff with the Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce for a ribbon cutting as the fairgrounds on U.S. Highway 82 is the site of the 82nd annual American Legion Post 21 Coastal Plains Regional Fair, underway daily through Sunday



VETERANS DAY CEREMONY NOV. 11

Tifton's annual Veterans Day ceremony is set for 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 11, at Veterans Park in Downtown Tifton.

Also on Veterans Day Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College's Georgia Museum of Agriculture and Historic Village  will offer free admission to all active duty military and veterans of the armed services from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Active and retired military must present their military ID at the Country Store for free admittance.

Museum Director Garrett Boone said the museum is a national Blue Star Museum that is proud to honor those who serve our country.

Throughout November, ABAC's Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society is collecting personal care items, snacks, puzzles/books and winter weather accessories for the Charlie Norwood Veterans Affairs Medical Center as part of a community service project through the University System of Georgia

A donation box is in the Baldwin Library on the ABAC campus.  The veterans medical  center needs personal items such as toothbrushes and toothpaste, shampoo and crème rinse, deodorant, powder, lip balm and other products.
