Thursday, November 9, 6:30 pm, Aspen Grove

Janet Fitch, the mega-bestselling author of  White Oleander , will discuss and sign her latest novel  The Revolution of Marina M.  ($30.00 Little Brown and Company), an epic, story of one woman's journey through some of the most dramatic events of the last century.

We're excited to host Janet Fitch on her birthday! We'll mix and mingle with wine and cake beginning at 6:30 pm, where guests can meet fellow book lovers and pick up book club reading lists. Then at 7:00 pm, Fitch will present  The Revolution of Marina M.  Free registration available NOW!

Friday, November 10, 7:00 pm, Historic LoDo

Colorado author Peter Decker will discuss and sign his historical western book  The Go-Backer   ($11.99), a story of one family from Vermont who comes west to homestead and meets failure on the land in North East Colorado. Thousands of personal diaries provide evidence of the romanticized adventure of homesteaders. But what's missing are the stories of those who started out with the intention to homestead but who never succeeded in attaining their dream. Pioneers who stayed the course referred to them as "the go-backers."

Every now and then we encounter a new book that we're so excited about we want to shout it from the rooftops, so we have this special designation to distinguish it from the rest: TC V.I.B. (very impressive book) !
November V.I.B...
by Nate Blakeslee

" American Wolf  uncovers the true legacy of the american wolf’s survival after reintroducing them into the Rockies in the wake of becoming nearly extinct in the 1920’s. The book focuses on renowned wolf, O-Six, who’s unlike any female wolf Yellowstone park ranger, Rick McIntyre, has ever seen. Many of O-Six’s challenges for survival are directly linked to the larger issue between those who are against the reintroduction of wolves and those who see wolves as an integral part of our ecosystem. Whether you are for or against reintroducing wolves into our world, Nate Blakeslee’s  American Wolf  is an essential read for anyone interested in a fascinating part of American history and an important issue that continues to plague the west." -- Stephanie Coleman, Director of Buying

by Ken Follett

"With his trademark skill for writing compelling fiction and a keen eye for historical detail, Follett has given us a work fully worthy of the promise of the first two in the series. Compelling is, in my opinion, an apt description for the effect of the author’s efforts on the reader. The nine-hundred- and-ninth page comes sooner than one might expect. There’s little pause and no dawdling anywhere in this narrative, and the characters are all satisfying noble, imperfect, vile and pathetic by turns as the tale unfolds. It is a rich and full reading experience and is recommended highly." --  Eric Boss, special to Tattered Cover

by Dodie Smith

I was thrilled to see a new edition issued for one of my all-time favorite reads,  I Capture the Castle , by Dodie Smith. I first stumbled across this quirky "coming of age" book years ago, and I've reread it more times than I can remember! It's a delightful book that's hard to define or categorize -- young women in England growing up in a heart-breakingly eccentric family. At once funny, thoughtful, simple, and wide-ranging, this is a book for the ages! -- Evelyn McLane, Historic LoDo retail manager
