Seriously Good Historical Fiction!

Who doesn't like good historical fiction? Historical fiction takes events from our past and weaves them into real and memorable stories about people we care about so we learn and, more importantly, remember. Good historical fiction is engaging and thought-provoking transporting us to another time and place and inspiring us to be a better version of ourselves.

Why I liked this book: Not only is this book captivating, but it's inspiring and informative. Most books take at least a few chapters to grab my interest- but not this one; I loved it from chapter one! It's also based on actual events and people who showed incredible courage and bravery. Two awe-inspiring women helped smuggle young Jewish children out of Occupied France during WWII. The book club discussion possibilities are many and varied.

Critical Praise For This Book: "A poignant story of courage and sacrifice, The Winter Orphans is another extraordinary novel by Kristin Beck. Based on the powerful true story of the Jewish children who escaped France during the Nazi-occupation and the Red Cross workers who fought to bring them to safety, Beck's novel is an emotional and resonant page-turner. A beautiful book!"
