BookBrowse Highlights
Hello,
Summer is the season of thrillers, and our First Impressions readers are kicking June off with Cate Ray's twist-filled novel Good Husbands.

Our Book Club is currently discussing Matt Goldman's family drama/murder mystery Carolina Moonset, about a man caring for his ailing father, whose battle with dementia unearths buried memories from the distant past.

June is Pride Month, so make sure to check out our list of books with LGBTQ+ themes and characters below. We also have a new Wordplay and information about our upcoming BookBrowse tour for librarians, where you can learn about all of the resources we offer to get the best books into the hands of library patrons.

With best wishes,

Good Husbands
by Cate Ray

"The first six words in this book are, 'It starts out as a curiosity,' and within a few pages my own curiosity became thoroughly piqued. I felt that pleasure that readers feel when we find ourselves reading a talented author. Three very different women, strangers to each other, receive identical letters informing them about their husbands' participation in a terrible crime, many years ago. The story of how they respond is told in a masterful way that will make this book very easy to pick up, and difficult to put down." - John G. (Salisbury, VT)

"The premise of this novel had me intrigued from the start. This could be a great book club selection engendering interesting discussion of 'What would I do?' Or maybe more importantly 'What is the right thing to do?' I enjoyed getting to know each character as the plot developed." - Barbara L. (Novato, CA)

"I like to think if I was married and my partner was accused of something awful, I'd do the right thing. But what is the right thing when your husband says it's all a lie? Would I believe a stranger over my own husband? There were so many tricky moral issues brought to light, and I look forward to reading more by this author." - Rebecca K. (Chicagoland)

Carolina Moonset
by Matt Goldman

From the Jacket

Both suspenseful and deeply moving, Carolina Moonset is an engrossing novel about family, memories both golden and terrible, and secrets too dangerous to stay hidden forever, from New York Times bestselling and Emmy Award-winning author, Matt Goldman.

From the Discussion

"I enjoyed this book very much. The atmosphere made me feel as if I was vacationing in South Carolina and the mystery offered numerous twists and turns. The characters were interesting and I was easily pulled into the story. It was a quick read and a fun way to spend an afternoon." - gerrieb

"I loved the book and had never read anything by Matt Goldman. It was a surprise, as I thought it would be a book dealing only with dementia but I especially enjoyed the romance and mystery/thriller plot as well. I had been in a bit of a reading slump and Carolina Moonset was just what I needed!" - paulak

"I really enjoyed this book and the characterization of Lewy body dementia. I don't have direct experience with that, but did care for my mother who had vascular dementia after a stroke. I also thought it was a good read, and will be picking up some of the author's backlist over the summer." - RRO

"P Up O S U"
The answer to the last Wordplay: T S's T Limit

"The Sky's the Limit"

Meaning: There is no upper limit. Often used in an aspirational context - you can do anything you want.

Sources differ on this one.

The Random House Dictionary of American Proverbs and Sayings edited by Gregory Titelman is of the opinion that Cervantes wrote "no limits but the sky" in his 1605 work Don Quixote.

But the usually reliable phrases.org.uk is convinced that Cervantes did not say this in the original Spanish and that the expression was introduced in early English translations of Don Quixote... continued
