Bobbie Singh-Allen was elected Mayor of Elk Grove. Last week she was sworn into office by Congressman Ami Bera (CA-CD 7) in a private ceremony. Singh-Allen is the first directly elected Sikh woman Mayor in the country. Elk Grove is South of Sacramento and includes almost 200,000 residents. She defeated the incumbent mayor by 10% and earned the highest number votes for mayor in the city's history. She will focus on Economic Recovery, Jobs Growth, Public Safety, Traffic Congestion and more.
Bobbie was a veteran school board trustee for Elk Grove Unified School District. She served as trustee for the state's fifth largest school district for over eight years. She led the efforts to restore strong labor-management relationships, sound fiscal reserves, and growing Career & Technical Education programs, high graduation rates, inclusive curriculum, and expanded resources and programs for students.
Singh-Allen was presented with an Assembly Resolution by Assemblyman Jim Cooper for her years of accomplishments and service in the community. She earned the support from Democrats, Republicans, Independents, Labor Leaders, and Business Leaders in a broad coalition.
