The December meeting of the SSAC was a very special one with a Leaders Forum presentation from Superintendent Matt Turner and a leadership activity that involved dogs!
Superintendent Turner spoke to the students about what it means to be a good leader. He talked about why TODAY MATTERS referencing the book by John C. Maxwell of the same name. He talked to students about developing daily habits to help them become successful in whatever it is that they want to do in life.
The leadership activity included a visit from 7 Therapy dogs. The dogs and their owners were invited to attend SSAC to teach the students about the very important work Therapy dogs do. Among their many responsibilities they spend time in schools, libraries (reading with kids) hospitals, hospice, and retirement homes. Their names are Pierre, the Barbet, Tally Ho, a Russell Terrier, Ace, the Norwegian Elkhound, Dax, a Shetland Sheepdog, Harley, the Miniature Golden Doodle, Leya, an English Golden Retriever and Earl, the Border Terrier. Each owner told the students adventurous stories about their dogs and explained what kind of specialized work their dogs do.
