SCHOOL BOARD NOTES

Break The Mold

Congratulations to Ryle High School Para Educator Sharon Zilliox! Here there and everywhere…she’s a trusted, listening ear and a source of encouragement to students. English Department Chairperson Nicole Schwartz says Sharon’s intuitive nature helps her anticipate student needs. She handles all situations with grace and patience and students gravitate toward her calm and positive demeanor. She never gives up on students and is always there to help redirect or problem solve. She’s one of our unsung heroes who deserves the Break the Mold award. Now you get to see for yourself in this video.

Pictured below are Superintendent Matt Turner, School Board Chairperson Jesse Parks, board members Karen Byrd, Cindy Young, Break the Mold award winner Sharon Zilliox School Board member Carolyn Wolfe, Vice Chairperson Dr. Maria Brown and Student School Board Representative Youssef Saidi.

Superintendent's Student Advisory Council

Members of the Month

This is a new initiative from Student School Board Representative Youssef Saidi. It recognizes one high school student, one middle school student and one elementary student on the SSAC. These students are chosen by Mr. Saidi for leading discussions, posing critical thinking questions and for overall being a positive influence on the SSAC.

This month Boone County Schools invited our Family Resources Youth Services Center (FRYSC) Coordinators to the school board meeting to shine a light on the work they do. Their mission in a school is to help academically at-risk students succeed in school by helping to minimize or eliminate non-cognitive barriers to learning.

A big THANK YOU to our FRYSCKy group of 20 below! Not all are pictured.

SUPERINTENDENT'S STUDENT ADVISORY COUNCIL

Dashai Thompson, Vice President of the Northern Kentucky National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), visited to talk about how Black History month came to be and its historical connection to the school district and the community. Eric Ball, Director of Human Resources for Boone County Schools discussed the process involved in the search for our next superintendent.
