Boone County School Principals are among the hardest working individuals in education. They set the academic tone for their schools and their vision dedication and determinations provide the mobilizing force for achieving student success. Please acknowledge your child's principal for their hard work!

Kelly Elementary School

Wednesday was Farmer Appreciation Day at Kelly Elementary School. This is an annual, school-wide Project Based Learning (PBL) at Kelly. Kelly Elementary is now a field trip destination! Second grade students from Collins Elementary were also in attendance. Kelly 5th graders served as leaders and 'student' teachers. Area farmers came out with their animals and equipment to expose students to the importance of their work and how what farmers all over the world do feeds the 8 billion people on earth. There was a petting zoo, a hay ride, a lesson on soil, students were taught how to make apple cider, farmers who spoke in the classroom. Olivia the cow showed students the modern way of cow milking and there was a fun game of Cow Patty Bingo (no one touched a cow patty) and many other cool and exciting experiences!

Steeplechase Elementary

The Steeplechase Elementary PTO brought in a very special guest last week. Jim "Basketball" Jones. He entertained students and staff as he shared his message about making good choices.

Superintendent's Student Advisory Council October Meeting

The Superintendent's Student Advisory Council (SSAC) is a monthly meeting of delegate students during the school year from each level of school (elementary, middle and high). The group is lead by a student elected Student Representative who sits on the school board in a non-voting position. The SSAC works on leadership projects and lends Student Voice to the Superintendent and School Board about student experiences within our schools. The Boone County SSAC was an innovative first in the state of Kentucky. It is in it's 23rd school year.

This month's meeting started with Superintendent Turner sharing information with the students about the new Strategic Plan. Julie Moynihan from Engage2Learn visited to talk about what makes up our unique identity webs. The SSAC'S Student Voice & Self Advocacy Committee lead a group activity about identifying issues and being an advocate for themselves and a cause.
