New Student Representative elected by his peers to the Boone County School Board

Youssef Saidi of Cooper High School was elected as the new Student Representative for the upcoming 2022-2023 school year this month at the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council (SSAC) Delegate Assembly.

Saidi will be the 22nd student representative elected to the Boone County Board of Education by student delegates of the SSAC since the SSAC was created in 2002. The Student Board Representative is a non-voting member of the Board of Education representating the student voice to the School Board. Saidi will preside over the SSAC after being sworn in at the August School Board meeting. The SSAC meet once a month during the school year and focuses on developing council membership leadership skills.

In the pictures below Saidi is seen with outgoing Representative Heng Yang and Superintendent Turner. Director of Pupil Personnel Mike Ford talked to students about the history and importance of voting.

Also on the ballot: Austin Reed of Boone County High School. Britney Ampadu of Conner High School, Hajar Elayyadi of IGNITE Institute and Hannah Engel of Ryle High School. The students voted on official Board of Election machines. Their votes were also certified by an official Boone County Clerk.

An End of Year Celebration was held this week for the students of the Superintendent's Student Advisory Council. This is a time set aside for SSAC and the end of each school year to thank the students for their year long participation and hard work on leadership activities. High school SSAC representatives lead the celebration. The students were treated to a movie of their choice. They choose Disney's Tangled. They were allowed to come to this celebration in their pajama's. Several stations were set up with games and coloring. A group taped off the lobby and played four-square. There was Chick-fil-a, popcorn and Dreamy Whip provided ice cream for the students. Each student received a certificate of appreciation for their leadership and outstanding work.
