RSDM and Horizon Partner on Scholarship for Underrepresented Minority Students

Horizon and RSDM have joined forces to boost dental school enrollment among underrepresented students of color in New Jersey. The Horizon Endowed Scholarship will fund a total of $20,000 in scholarships each academic year: a $10,000 scholarship to recruit a first-year student and a second $10,000 scholarship to a fourth-year student entering a pediatric residency program after graduation. From Math Teacher to Dental Student

Joy Chang was teaching middle school math when she realized she wanted to be a dentist. It was something she considered before, but after seeing so many students showing off their new braces, she was finally inspired to switch careers. Faculty Member Donates Scanner to OFP Clinic

RSDM’s Center for Temporomandibular Disorders and Orofacial Pain got a technology boost when faculty member Dr. Stanley Markham donated a new digital scanner valued at $20,000. The Enovate Digital Scanner will enable OFP residents to work with state-of-the-art equipment when treating patients. “This gives us the facility to provide better services with faster turnaround and more accuracy in the kinds of care we provide,’’ said Dr. Gary Heir, the center’s clinical director. “Dr. Markham did this anonymously but we think he deserves recognition. We can’t thank him enough for his generous donation.’’
