Aligning for Impact: Career Pathways and WBL Across San Diego Institutions

This regional analysis of career pathways in Business, Computer Science, and Engineering tracks how students progress from high school, dual enrollment through community college, and into San Diego's public and private universities (UC San Diego, SDSU, CSUSM, USD, and PLNU).

Did you know that 4 years of Math in high school are required for students pursuing business, computing, and engineering degrees? Also, taking Calculus in high school is a must for computing and engineering students. Check out the presentation and the recording!

Postsecondary Information

Community College District Profiles

In a joint effort to streamline equitable pathways from high school to postsecondary education and into the workforce, the K-16 Collaborative is sharing about the important research happening in our region.

To support strategic planning, grant management, and program development, the San Diego & Imperial Center of Excellence (COE) developed six community college district profiles that provide a comprehensive look at the San Diego-Imperial region.

Each district profile includes:

  • Demographics & household characteristics
  • Leading industries & top occupations
  • Community college enrollments
  • Top programs with completions (degrees & certificates)
  • Student outcomes

Designed for our colleges and partners to make informed decisions, you can explore the district profiles and their interactive dashboards.

Click on the image to the left to learn more about how data is being used and to view the District Profiles.

The COE uses the district profiles to guide a series of Career Education Community Forums across the region. These gatherings brought together employers, educators, nonprofits, and community leaders to:

  • Review labor market and demographic trends from the district profiles
  • Engage in an open dialogue about barriers to student success
  • Explore local partnerships and opportunities
  • Discuss CTE program alignment with employers' workforce needs

There are two Career Education Community Forums left. Employers, educators, nonprofits and community leaders are invited to attend!
