The Leadership Council for Nonprofits has a board training and certification program we want you to know about! Our purpose as a program is to motivate, educate, prepare, and connect Greater Cincinnati community leaders to serve on local nonprofit boards or in other high level volunteer roles.
A recent study shows that employees of businesses who serve on nonprofit boards develop in ways that positively change their behaviors, effectiveness, and productivity on their jobs as soon as one or two years after beginning their board service. These board experiences result in employees describing themselves as more confident, better leaders, able to accept more responsibility, feeling more useful, finding more meaning in their work, and better qualified for promotion.
As nonprofits face growing complexities and challenges, the need for board leaders has never been more important. As a prospective board member, you bring relevant skills, expertise and networks to the organization. It is important to have a clear understanding of what your job is as a board member. After attending this informational session, you will learn some of the guidelines for effective board service and be introduced to the Leadership Council for Nonprofit's Board Orientation + Leadership Developmentprogram.
