A LETTER FROM OUR PRINCIPAL
|
Dear Alumni,
Lights! Camera! Action! Homecoming 2022 is next week, and it’s going to be a blast! I hope we can see you at one or more of our events. There is something for everyone! A fan of running? We’ve got the 5K. A car person? Check out the car show! Is free candy your thing? Sit along the parade route! Borgia grad? Join us at the Homecoming BBQ! Sports nut? Check out one of our teams! Feel like praying? Come to our Homecoming Mass!
Our school has worked so hard to build a Homecoming week that is all about community and celebration. I’m so, so proud to be a part of the Borgia Family!
I’m excited for our 109 freshmen to experience their first Borgia Homecoming - the spirit days, the dance, all the blue and gold we can find! I have many fond memories of Homecoming from my high school days, and new favorite memories pop up every year. Senior Mollie F. said her favorite part of Homecoming is “the week leading up to it. The dress-down days, the parade, the football game…pretty much all of it!” Fellow senior Bella B. said the spirit days are her favorite. Facilities Director Travis Stockhorst noted that “a winning football game” is his Homecoming highlight. Junior Will R. looks forward to “the school environment of that week. We still learn, but it’s an exciting energy in the school.” Moira (Huber) Vossbrink '80, Director of Admissions and Stewardship and Class of 1980, loves “the traditions of the parade, the float-building, and the coronation.”
No matter what your favorite part is, Homecoming is a special week to celebrate the school we hold so dear!
Sincerely,
Pam (Ruether) Tholen '02
Principal

Meet Our Therapy Dog, Daisy!
|
Daisy has been a certified, registered therapy dog with the Alliance of Therapy Dogs organization since January 2020. In fact, she and Mrs. Kristie (Alfermann) Kandlbinder '88 are a Certified Dog Therapy Team. Daisy has been in schools bringing joy and smiles to students since the age of one when she was a therapy dog in training. Daisy comes to Borgia a few days each week with Mrs. Kandlbinder, one of our school counselors, to visit the students and staff. With Daisy’s presence, the counseling office has become a very popular spot to visit. Daisy provides a supportive and welcoming environment for our whole school community. She offers comfort and social and emotional support for students and often serves as an icebreaker for students needing help but having difficulty asking for it.
Daisy is an essential member of our counseling team and has helped build a culture of support, comfort, and acceptance in our counseling department. We love having her here with us!

In thanksgiving for the sacrifices and contributions offered by those before us on our behalf, we at St. Francis Borgia High School offer our afternoon prayer for different members of our alumni each day.
