From Department of Public Works
Tree Trimming to Begin
The Department of Public works will continue tree trimming along Borough right of ways.
All areas where trees, branches and large limbs hang over the roadways creating a hazard for motorists and pedestrians will be trimmed. Routine tree pruning provides a safer environment for all persons who walk and drive along the road and sidewalks throughout our community. Large trees, limbs and other vegetation can cause costly damages to vehicles, especially larger ones such as school buses, plow trucks and trash trucks. Pedestrians walking along walkways that have branches and limbs hanging down are then forced to walk around them at times and that may even mean walking on a busy street.
Pruning the dead diseased branches help prevent further decay of the trees and also cause benefit from more sunlight and air circulation as a result from pruning. Tree pruning also deters pest and animal infestation and greatly improves their appearance and driving site lines.
This work will continue through the winter months as weather permits. Please call us at (201) 891-4333 if you have any questions. We thank you for your cooperation as we work to provide safe and clear travel paths for all.

Second Chance Toys have collected 13,520 plastic toys in New Jersey. The program has saved solid waste disposal tipping costs for participating communities and kept more than 140,000 pounds of plastic toys from being disposed in landfills.
They accept plastic toys (they don’t biodegrade in landfills) that are clean, are in working order, and have no missing or small parts (cannot fit through a toilet paper roll).
