Meditation in honor of Lahiri Mahasaya

Saturday, September 21, 9:00am-12:30pm

On Saturday, September 21st we will hold a meditation in honor of Lahiri Mahasaya.  The service will include chanting, short readings, and an affirmation service.  The meditation periods begin from 20 minutes in length and progress gradually.  If you have never tried a long meditation before, this is a wonderful and gentle way to get used to the longer and deeper meditations that Paramahansaji encouraged.

September Special Services

Mahasamadhi of Lahiri Mahasaya (1895)
 Thursday, September 26 from 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

Birthday of Lahiri Mahasaya (1828)
Monday, September 30 from 6:30 - 8:30 pm

Paramahansa Yogananda wrote in Autobiography of a Yogi: "As the fragrance of flowers cannot be suppressed, so Lahiri Mahasaya, quietly living as an ideal householder, could not hide his innate glory.  Devotee-bees from every part of India began to seek the divine nectar of the liberated master....The harmoniously balanced life of the great householder-guru became the inspiration of thousands of men and women."  As Lahiri Mahasaya exemplified the highest ideals of Yoga, union of the little self with God, he is reverenced as a Yogavatar, or incarnation of Yoga.

The meditation services will begin at 6:30 pm, and the commemorative services will begin at 7:30 pm. Please bring a flower and a free will donation in an envelope, as symbols of devotion and loyalty to the work of Self Realization Fellowship.

Membership Meeting: Save the Date!

Sunday, September 29

12:15pm - 1:00pm

You are warmly invited to a video conference with SRF Planning and Building and Center Department Monastics, on Sunday, September 29th.  The purpose of the meeting is to continue our discussion of a shared vision for the Boston Center, including altar design, construction, and placement.  If the shared recommendations are accepted and funding is allocated, the goal is to complete renovations before the September 2020 Centennial events.
