Now that we are fast approaching the end of the spring semester, we are beginning to plan for fall 2019. We are excited to announce that EagleLink is opening today, May 6, 2019, for fall campus recruiting requests. To assist you with your fall recruiting planning, please review our Fall 2019 On Campus Recruiting Update found below. Also, please save the date for our Fall Career & Internship Fair, to be held September 12, 2019. Registration for the fair will open in June, and you will receive further information via email.

If you are currently hiring, there are a number of graduating students seeking employment. We are pleased to announce that resume books comprised of graduating students will be available beginning mid-May through August. There are three resume books available to employers: Class of 2019, Diversity & Inclusion, and Student-Athletes. For access to the Resume Books, we require employers to have an active job listing in EagleLink. Please email [email protected] to request access to the resume books and reference the job title and EagleLink job ID # of your active position.

Over the summer months, our staff will be busy planning and preparing for the coming academic year. Don’t hesitate to reach out about anything you read here, or if you’d like to talk about your recruiting strategy for 2019-2020.

If you’re heading to the NACE conference in Orlando this June, we’d love to connect with you! Caroline Meditz (Assistant Director, Employer Engagement) and Jabril Robinson (Assistant Director, Career Education and Diversity Initiatives) will be in attendance. Feel free to email Caroline or Jabril to set-up a meeting.

All our best,

Fall 2019 On Campus Recruiting Update

We are pleased to announce that we will open EagleLink for Fall 2019 On Campus Recruiting requests on Monday, May 6. This includes submitting requests for campus information sessions, on campus interviews, coffee chats, and networking events. All requests will be reviewed upon submission and are generally scheduled on a first-come, first-served basis, however, additional factors may be taken into consideration to avoid conflicts of interest for events and programming.

Additionally, we have updated our Employer Recruiting Policy and ask that you review the information and adhere to our guidelines for your campus recruiting activities. The biggest change you will observe is that we no longer have specific deadlines associated with offer decisions, rather, we have instituted general timelines we feel are reasonable and best serve employers and students in the current environment.
Tips for Marketing and Promoting Your Campus Engagement

As you plan for the year ahead, we want you to be familiar with strategies to help you maximize your recruiting events at Boston College. While students do find employer opportunities (including information sessions) in our EagleLink system, employers have many additional ways to spread the word about their campus engagement at BC, and are highly encouraged to do so. Here are some steps you can take to market and promote your campus recruiting events and programs:
Reach out to student organizations on campus: Student organizations are a vital part of life at Boston College, and are interested in connecting with employers. Employers have found success in collaborating with these organizations on recruiting events and helping to promote company information sessions as well as open internships and full time roles via EagleLink . You can find a curated list of pre-professional, academic, and diversity-related organizations contact information here . Please note that we will be updating this site with the 2019-2020 student leaders by the end of June.

Create flyers or other promotional materials: If you create a flyer or brochure for your campus events and program deadlines, you can send it to student organizations to distribute, and other campus partners you have, including the Career Center. Please note it is best to provide this information as far in advance as possible for it to make an impact. Such information should be sent to [email protected] . Please note, this applies to materials promoting campus engagement. Internships and full-time positions themselves should be posted on EagleLink and not promoted primarily through flyers.

Leverage your BC alumni: If you have current alumni working at your organization, especially young alumni, they can be great resources to help promote upcoming campus engagements you have. Not only does their presence at events encourage current students to attend, they may still have campus contacts they can notify of your events or programs, including faculty, friends who are still students, and more. If you aren’t currently aware of BC alumni at your organization, feel free to contact us at [email protected] and we may be able to help facilitate an introduction.

Get advice from the employer engagement team: If you have questions about the above, or want to run an idea by us to promote an event or program, don’t hesitate to reach out! Depending on the event, program and more, we may have additional ideas for you. You may reach us by phone at 617-552-4769 or at [email protected] .
Keep in mind that aside from promoting your opportunities, other factors are important, too. The date, time and location of an event or program, for example, has the potential to greatly contribute to or detract from reaching your student attendance and engagement goals. You can learn more about planning campus events here .
Where BC Grads Go—and How It Can Help Your Recruitment

A high percentage of Boston College students continue to find meaningful employment, graduate programs, fellowships, or volunteer experience after completing their undergraduate experience. Our 2018 survey released jointly by the Career Center and the Office of Institutional Research, Planning & Assessment highlights that 96% of graduates from the Class of 2018 elected one of the 4 noted paths above, with a majority (73.3%) entering the workforce. The findings, which place BC among the top universities nationwide, underscore the value of a BC education.
We invite you to view our First Destination Interactive Dashboard where a plethora of recent graduate employment data is now available such as:
  • What graduates are doing from a specific school or major
  • What graduates are doing in a specific city, state, or country
  • Explore industries with details on when graduates received job offers

As you plan your BC recruiting strategy for the coming year, consider using the dashboard to gain valuable insights. Here are some examples:
  • You are recruiting for a new department or business line and want to see if and how many BC students took roles in that department or business line at other organizations.
  • You are curious about the top employers of BC graduates and if any are peer organizations.
  • You want to know what fields students go into based on major or school.
  • You want to know if BC graduates accept jobs located in your part of the country, or geographic offices you are recruiting for.

We welcome any questions you have about using the dashboard, and hope it will be a helpful resource for you. Of course, none of these outcomes would be possible without you, our valued employer partners. Thank you for the meaningful opportunities you bring into the lives of our graduates!
