Arrangements with Local Authorities for Small Quantity Generator
This article is the first in a series I intend to write about the emergency preparedness and prevention regulations of the USEPA for a Small Quantity Generator of hazardous waste (SQG). In this installment: Arrangements with Local Authorities, I identify and explain what a SQG must do to comply with these federal regulations. They were relocated and revised by the Generator Improvements Rule, so you may not know what you think you know!
Important note: Unlike the earlier version of the regulations which required the SQG to document only the failure to make arrangements with local authorities, the regulations now require the SQG to maintain records documenting all attempts to make such arrangements. Contact me for more information.
Arrangements with Local Authorities for Large Quantity Generator
You may think you’re seeing double, and you’re kinda’ right. The regulations for emergency preparedness, prevention, and emergency procedures for a Large Quantity Generator of hazardous waste (LQG) were also relocated and revised by the Generator Improvements Rule. And just like the SQG, the LQG must also attempt to make arrangements with local authorities. But the regulations differ in other areas and the LQG has more requirements elsewhere, so be sure to read with care.
I provide training and consulting services to equip your team – whether it’s just you or a group of employees – to safely ship, receive, transport or dispose of hazardous materials and waste.
