Botswana!2020
Making the most of Botswana! On this trip we'll be exploring three very different environments in this beautiful country, with their attendant flora and fauna: The Moremi Game Reserve, the Makgadikgadi Pans in the Kalahari Desert, and the water world of the Okavango Delta. There are links to these below.
We'll also have the opportunity of experiencing more than one of the many ways of enjoying Africa, from a mobile tenting safari to luxury glamping.
June 23, 2020 - or earlier - arrive and overnight in Johannesburg.
June 24, 2020. Fly from Johannesburg to
Maun to join
Kalahari Skies for a private 4 night/3 day mobile camping safari in
Moremi Game Reserve. Get your binoculars and cameras ready - this should give us great game viewing!
June 28 - July 1, 2020, We drive to
Camp Kalahari in the
Makgadikgadi Pans, and on the way visit
Baines Baobabs. Camp Kalahari is where we will get the chance to see meerkats and perhaps aardvarks, aardwolves, korhaans,
bat-eared foxes, and several other less common critters. It's quite a different environment from either Moremi or Setari. (Note to riders - it is possible to ride out from camp, but I don't know about the quality of either the horses or their care)
July 1-4, 2020, Three nights at
Setari Camp
in the panhandle of the Okavango Delta - a water wonderland. Setari is the creation of friends who have decades of experience in Botswana, and it just opened this year. We will have the camp to ourselves.
July 4, 2020 back to JNB and a night there before departure (unless you have opted to go elsewhere from Setari, such as Chobe or Victoria Falls, which is very easy to arrange).
July 5, 2020 - or later - departure JNB.
