Sunday, November 6, 2022 at 4:00 PM
First United Methodist Church, Boulder

The Boulder Chorale’s diversity concerts are making a big splash, called “the most innovative choral programming in the country.” In this concert, we find new ways for our Western chorus to meet Eastern music. We highlight music of Middle Eastern and Northern African countries, which are some of the richest sounds in the world. (Have you ever heard an oud played? It’s magic!). We will feature songs by the Egyptian singer Umm Kulthum, of whom Omar Sharif said, "She is born again every morning in the heart of 120 million beings. In the East a day without Umm Kulthum would have no color.” Gorgeous new arrangements just for the Boulder Chorale by Adam Waite include music from Israel, Afghanistan, Spain, Morocco, and Syria. Even Sting makes an appearance with “A Thousand Years.” We are joined by percussionist David Hinojosa and a group of musicians from around the world. Join us for this entirely unique concert experience!

This program will feature a selection of traditional Celtic music, performed by all members of the Boulder Chorale organization, featuring a Celtic music ensemble. The adult choirs and children’s choirs will combine on several Celtic pieces, as well as our new traditional piece, “Night of Silence.”

President Barack Obama said that we are all “A Nation of Immigrants.” This concert will bring some of the musical culture of America’s immigrants to the stage. We will honor the beauty of the Ukrainian people and their choral traditions, as well as featuring songs and musicians from China, Mexico, Brazil, the African diaspora, and Europe. Celebrate the stories from our nation’s rich tapestry of cultures!
Beethoven Mass in C
Boulder Chamber Chorale
with Boulder Chamber Orchestra
Saturday, April 1, 2023 at 7:30 PM
Boulder Adventist Church, Boulder

We continue the Boulder Chamber Chorale’s collaboration with the Boulder Chamber Orchestra for this rarely performed and magnificent choral work by Beethoven. The Penguin Guide to Compact Discs calls the piece for four soloists, chorus and orchestra a "long-underrated masterpiece," while critic Michael Moore wrote "it has a directness and an emotional content that the “Missa Solemnis” sometimes lacks." Don’t miss the opportunity to hear this glorious work live!
Stories from the Stage
Boulder Children’s Chorale
Fundraiser Dessert Show
Saturday, March 11, 2023 at 2:00 PM
Atonement Lutheran Church, Boulder

Our annual solo showcase highlights our upper level singers performing popular numbers from the Broadway stage and other contemporary styles, and features guest performances by the Boulder Children’s Chorale staff. Students have the opportunity to perform solos or small groups in a safe setting after completing auditions and a feedback process. Desserts and beverages top off the experience for the audience.
Stories of My Life
Boulder Children’s Chorale
Sunday, April 16, 2023 at 4:00 PM
Location: TBD

“Come with me, and turn the page!” The children’s choirs will perform music inspired by texts that celebrate the role of literature in our lives. This will include children’s books, classic literature, and poetry. This pairing invites our students and our audiences to understand the value of each individual story, and to connect with those around them. These stories will come to life through interactive moments and visual imagery. As part of this, the children’s ensembles will prepare specially designed outreach programs for younger audiences members, in collaboration with local libraries.
Mahler Symphony No. 2
Boulder Concert Chorale
with the MahlerFest Orchestra
May 2023

Symphony No. 2 in C minor by Gustav Mahler was first performed in 1895. It was one of Mahler's most popular and successful works during his lifetime. In this large work, Mahler further developed the creativity of "sound of the distance" and created a "world of its own,” aspects seen in his First Symphony. Put Mahler in the category of George Lucas, Richard Wagner, George R.R. Martin and J.K. Rowling, as one of the great “world builders” of the arts! The Boulder Concert Chorale is pleased to continue our collaboration with MahlerFest to present this sublime choral masterpiece at Macky Auditorium.
